More deets on this ongoing battle royale betwixt home owners protecting their property values vs. the social safety net that keeps Democracy intact lest po'folk decide to violently wreck the system given their increasing numbers and far less consideration amid the death of the American middle-class. Checkit:
Northland residents displeased with Section 8 housing project
Kansas City, MO - The Kansas City Housing Authority has a plan to build affordable housing on land along North Platte Purchase Rd. It's causing a stir among Northland residents. Around 4,000 have signed a petition against the plan, and have told their councilmember they are dead set against the construction of lower income housing near their homes.
Many are trying to sell already. This will destroy the area.
ReplyDeleteThey should fight like hell to keep them from building it there
ReplyDeleteAccording to TKC Section 8 housing is "the social safety net that keeps Democracy intact" What nonsense.
ReplyDeleteSection 8 housing is a social engineering disaster. When the do as I say not as I do politicians who support section 8 housing have the "po-folk" live next door to them I will change my mind. Same goes for the do as I say not as I do politicians who support admitting refugees into our country. Move the refugees next door to the politicians instead of sticking them in the ghetto.
The title of this should have been: KC Northland Against Higher Crime and Lower Property Values.

ReplyDeleteblacks are like locust, they move in, destroy everything and move on. Every where they go they bring death and destructionNo white parents want their kids anywhere near their "stealing, raping, murdering"
ReplyDeleteSo how will they get to work with no transportation ?
ReplyDeleteNo grocery stores or other shopping around to walk to .
Poor city planning again . Funny this project did not go Downtown with the Streetcars for transportation , grocery store and hospital and other jobs that could be had .
Section 8 is the death of ANY neighborhood.
ReplyDeleteWhen porch apes move in, death and destruction follow......
WORD !
Portable ghetto. Ask Memphis how that works out.
ReplyDeleteSuck it up SUCKERS!
ReplyDeleteEqual opportunity for all is the Demon-crap way.

ReplyDeleteSection 8 housing is like zoysia grass. Put in a plug here and there and in a few years your lawn is ruined. A few more years and your neighbors lawns are ruined too.

ReplyDeleteDemocrat moochers will destroy Zona Rosa --
like they did Bannister Mall
There goes northland! The only way to escape the invasion of the Zomboonzies is to move out of Kansas Shitty. There will be no escaping the nemesis.
ReplyDeleteOkay, Tony's I finally get it! You're going to continue to ignore all the commenters who have offered facts about the Northland's existing diversity and the intolerable level of density this project would force upon its residents, and anything else that doesn't fit into your concept of THE GREAT WHITE NORTH! Okay, we're disgusting racists, all of us, each and ever one, no matter what color we happen to be...
ReplyDeleteSo why don't all you righteous "Baja KC" folks, and specially Tony's vow to never set foot north of the River, and let us just wither on the vine?
And why don't you run a comment thread about how the Media, print, broadcast and on-line, conservative and liberal, are all actively doing everything they can to stir up divisiveness among the American People, acting as a fourth branch of Government, in order to "Divide and Conquer"? And have been doing so to preserve the Status Quo since the late 1960's?
Oh, sorry, that might hit a little too close to home, mightn't it?
People spend a huge chunk of money on their homes. I don't blame folks for protesting the destruction of their neighborhoods with the Section 8 plans. I counted 11 different apartment complexes in the southern Clay County and Platte County areas that are partially or entirely Section 8. I invite folks to drive by Englewood Apartments on Waukomis to see the Section 8 problem first-hand. Northland has plenty of "diversity". We aren't all rich folks living in gated communities next to a golf course.
ReplyDeleteYou people are so ignorant about Sec. 8 and what it entails. Is public housing Sec. 8 a disaster and are there abuses? Damn right. However, there is a segment of we Sec. 8 recipients that live in privately owned and managed properties. I live in OP and live in an apartment complex and because I'm permanently disabled and wheelchair bound I receive a Sec. 8 voucher. I lived in a rehab nursing home for 33 months but have been in my apt. 12 years. if you didn't know I was on Sec. 8 it's just like most other complexes. Nice neighbor, no crime issues, the complex is well maintained. So learn more about it before yoy bash it. Soe of us aren't all bad.
ReplyDeleteSome aren't bad. Most are! Are you a wagering individual?
DeleteQuote from Edwin Lowndes, executive director for the Housing Authority in Kansas City. Lowndes says he wants to teach people about who actually lives in public housing. "The only real difference between the families we serve and the families living up north of the river is their economic status," Lowndes said.
ReplyDeleteWrong, Mr. Lowndes. It's not just money that makes the difference. It's the CULTURE. The poor folks from Chouteau Courts are mired in a culture of drugs, alcohol, prostitution, physical abuse, child neglect, and violence. While not ALL of them are dangerous, they tend to attract people who are.
We Northlanders don't need to be "taught" anything about Section 8 residents. All we have to do is read the news or watch the TV.
11:29 is right. I own a home North, and three of the 12 houses on my block are Section 8 qualified. I don't know if the three families living there are receiving vouchers, it's not my business, but I do know they're "just folks".
ReplyDeleteHowever, the complaints being made against this project are not with regard to Section 8, despite the TKC shock headlines and all the dubious racist so-called postings. If you actually read the objections, they have to do with the population density planned for it, the lack of services (transportation, grocery access, health care access, etc.), and the already-existing Section 8 qualified and under-used facilities that already exist North.
Okay TKC and your "posters", bring it on!
There goes the neighborhood.Hear, comes the Loud RUMBA MUSIC. AND RAP MUSIC FROM OVER,SIZED CAR SPEAKER.24 MAGIC KARATS IN THE AIR.
ReplyDeleteI think another developer should step in and Build a HARD ROCK CAFE AND A MARGARITAVILLE.MINIATURE GOLF AND A JOES BAR,B,Q,
