TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! SHOW-ME MISSOURI GOP CRACKDOWN ON JACKSON COUNTY ROCK ISLAND CORRIDOR VAPORWARE!!!

Once again Kansas City MSM is keeping this town stupid when it comes to sketchy rail transit development deals that never seem to live up to expectations.

To wit . . .

WE START THIS WEEK WITH OUR TKC BLOG COMMUNITY PROVEN CORRECT ON ROCK ISLAND CORRIDOR VAPORWARE EMPTY PROMISES!!!

For at least two years we've been saying that this transit project is nothing but sound and fury sold by politicos and now the GOP hegemony in Jeff City is finally catching onto this fact.

More than a year ago we promised . . .

"IF ANYTHING EVEN REMOTELY RESEMBLING THESE ROCK ISLAND CORRIDOR PIX IS BUILT WE WILL GIVE UP THIS BLOG AND TRY TO START A SINGING CAREER INSTEAD!!!"

Now check the latest:

STL Post Dispatch: Missouri reconsidering commitment to cross-state Rock Island Trail

Refresher on Rock Island:

It's a "17.7-Mile Line To Be Developed For Bike Trail & Potentially A Multi-Modal Transportation System" that'll happen some time around the 1st of Octember.

There have been drawings and plans and even more hype . . .

And in all the time the path still looks like a hobo alley . . .

Even worse, as the County gets ready to increase taxes . . . Let's not forget that a great many politicos who still hold office approved a big money bond sale for this monstrosity:

Jackson County: Legislature Approves Bonds To Purchase Rock Island Corridor

$52 MILLION worth of financing in fact . . .

Like it or not, this bomb has now landed in the lap of Jackson County Exec Frank White and the legislature as they struggle with a jail crisis that just won't quit and continued budget slap fighting.

More importantly, for Kansas City voters . . . The New GOP Administration considering putting The Rock Island Corridor on FULL STOP holds a lesson for Kansas City and so much irrational exuberance for rail transit development schemes that neglect far more pressing needs for communities and constituents.

Developing . . .

  1. Nixon only approved this as a lame duck. Greitens cutting the purse strings actually shows he cares about good government.

    1. Will Frank's son on the ATA help to fix this situation and use all of his skill and talent to protect the investment of local taxpayers?

Or will he just collect a check?

      Good for him!

  3. A lot of people from around the world come to Missouri to ride the Katy trail. Of course it is expensive to buy and develop urban infrastructure. Lots of trail users would start their journeys in Kansas City, but KC government agencies have to make the investment in extending the trail to capture their share of these tourist dollars. The first 47 miles of the Rock Island Trail from Pleasant Hill to Windsor are done and businesses are already flourishing along the route. If Missouri and the GOP can't get this done, they are incompetent and do not represent the interests and desires of their constituents.

  4. Sanders, Waits and McClain own or control a great deal of property and commercial interests that stand to make tens of millions of dollars for them when the Rock Island Development goes through. So they really do not care what Frank White thinks, says or does. The governor will do business, he just needs to see some friends included in the deal.

So Tony, you should have coffee with Dan Ryan and find out what the life of an ex-blogger is like. Maybe a former firefighter union boss will hire you to sing in a bar?

There is no McClain. 7:56 is just another political whack-off who thinks they know something and they post it anonymously on Tony's. But they do not know anything. Believing shit like that would be like consulting an 80 year old nun about sexual technique. Anyone who believes anything on this blog that is not an external link is crazy. Tony provides a relatively complete daily round of links on local news, but that is all.

  8. Kenneth McClain is an plaintiffs' lawyer and property developer in Independence. He is also Mike Sanders' law partner. McClain writes big checks to politicians who can help improve his personal wealth. Other than greed he has no political philosophy or agenda.

The only reason Greitens cuts is because he and his group wont profit from it or it will take profit from some other endeavor.

Republican or deomcrat doesn't matter. Just there for their own interests.

  12. These fucking boss hog politicians are killing the country. The county can't just build a plain old park. They have to build a park or trail costing millions upon millions and involve all their pals. In the end the tax payers get screwed. Someone explain to me the logical of fiscal necessity for all this shit?
