Kansas City Downtown Dog Park Demands

This story has dominated the Downtown discourse for most of the week and here's follow-up on a call for greater KCMO doggie safety inside the loop. Take a look:

Metro man calls for changes at downtown dog park after his 'co-pilot' falls five stories and dies

KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- A metro man is hoping changes are made to a downtown dog park after his nearly 3-year-old lab mix, Brutus, mistook a low concrete ledge, and fell nearly five stories to his death. It happened at rooftop dog park near 12th and Main Street in the Power and Light District.

  2. Just another "I'm stupid, irresponsible, and make really bad decisions, so I DEMAND that everyone else change what they're doing" clown.
Let's have some marches and protests.
ANYTHING but accepting any sense of responsibility.
This guy needs to start a nonprofit.
He'll fit right in to the rest of the grifter crowd.

  5. I get it,, people love their dogs but remember it is still a dog and animal just like a cow, a pig, or a horse. They are not your co-pilot or your best friend they are an animal. What about all the people who are allergic to things like cats and dogs and you dog lovers think you need to drag your animal every where you go. Home Depot and places of such are no place for an animal simply because they can't be trusted as this mans dog proved. The dog wasn't smart enough to look before it leaped and most animals as well are not that smart.

The owner of Brutus should be charged with animal cruelty if indeed he let the dog run wild in an area that wasn't for dogs to be off leash.

Pet owners do us all favor and keep your dogs on a leash at all times when out of your fenced in back yard and keep them the hell out of retail places outside of maybe Petco and I question the logic of that. Wasn't all that long ago that two dogs in my neighborhood decided they didn't like each other and proceeded to try and kill one another while the whole time the two ignorant owners neither one was strong enough to pull the two animals apart tell more help arrived. I hate to think how bad this could have been if it had happened in a local retail place with some kids around.

They are an animal accept that and deal with it. I sometimes wonder if some of these huge dog lovers are not sleeping and trying to have sex with their so call co-pilot/best friends.

  7. @10:22, apart from a few troll drops, @9:19 is pretty spot on with his assessment. I've had dogs in the past, cats, and livestock. I've had to put down old pets knocking at death's door; it sucks. I've killed and prepared livestock so that my family can eat, it sucks less. Try to keep in perspective all things. Many people are too stupid to own pets, and for that matter children as well as easily witnessed any time you head to a WM, Targût, Kohl's etc.
