An important tech article reveals more local spying without any noticible impact on city services or response times given all the steel plates covering streets in this town . . .
"In the coming weeks, anomaly detection for crime, traffic and parking will be released. This means city workers will be able to see that a traffic incident has occurred before anyone calls the police because they’ll be able to note a change in traffic flow, for instance."

Analytics platform helps KC anticipate the needs of its citizens -- GCN
Bob Bennett, the CIO for Kansas City, Mo., felt confident that a series of sensor initiatives was helping him and his team reach their goal of creating "the smartest city on Planet Earth."
Why does it matter if the police can't even respond to 911 calls in a timely manner?
ReplyDeleteGiven the pitiful lack of "services" KCMO provides the people who actually live in it, this latest tech wonder will be a really great addition.
ReplyDeleteWith this in place, KCMO government can anticipate the needs of the residents and IGNORE them preemptively!
Saves a lot of time.
And don't bother calling 311!
Keep paying those water and sewer bills, inflated sales and increasing property taxes, and the earnings tax, and leave Sly and the gang alone so they can spend your money on toys, developers' "projects", and other glitzy legacy crap.
Thanks for playing!
I hope we aren't paying too much for traffic anomaly detection. Google traffic dies a pretty good job of that already.
ReplyDeleteWill it detect murders since no one at city hall gives a damn
ReplyDeleteWill it detect murders since no one at city hall gives a damn
ReplyDeleteWill it tell us where sLIE is because that certainly would be an anomaly to see him outside of burns and Mac industrial complex!!!
ReplyDeleteIs this a joke? This is the city we're talking about. First they would have lines that weren't installed in the 70's so the image would show up the same day, second, someone would have to be awake and third, they would have to be trained to know that a crime is being committed instead of what they're used to doing, ignore it like the mayor does
ReplyDeleteBig brother
ReplyDeleteWill it detect when Sylvester tells the truth? That would be an anomaly.
ReplyDelete” Then he realized “while that was really cool, it wasn’t smart because it didn’t take advantage of the collective wisdom inside City Hall and it didn’t take advantage, quite frankly, of the data that we already had resident in City Hall.”
ReplyDeleteNow that's funny right there! Collective wisdom inside city hall! Rofl!!!!
The city bought another load of crap that will cost millions and fail just like the mayor and city manager have, po po is going to abuse this too
ReplyDeleteAnomaly detector going off! SLIE is hanging out in gay bars in Miami!!
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful technology that is embraced by bureaucrats from coast to coast because it produces a whole new way for them to sit on their fat asses and get paid.
