The latest development in the crisis seems to be the fight over a special prosecutor and the top ranking elected official in Kansas City is leading the charge. Checkit:
Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, II released the following statement regarding the firing of FBI Director James Comey.
"I expect more information to be revealed within the coming days but this doesn't look good for the current administration - to fire your top investigator in the middle of an investigation? Each time we have these incidents, it knocks down the people's faith in our government. I am calling for an independent investigation into President Donald Trump's ties to Russia. This shouldn't be a partisan issue. It's time for a special prosecutor."

ReplyDeleteThe timing of the firing probably wasn't the greatest. It did need to happen, though, as many on both sides agree. Comey was wishy washy on enforcement, under investigation, and coping with at least half a dozen scandals.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I don't see how an investigation serves the dems in the long run. Trump ain't going anywhere. Everyone hates Congress exactly because they seem mired in partisan bickering.
And, as Cleaver's example shows, politicians with glass car washes shouldn't 'thow' stones.
The dems have to do this to appease their base, who still hope to find the magic pill that makes Trump go away. But they risk looking divisive, off balance, and preoccupied.

Former FBI Director Comey briefed Congressional leadership, in a classified setting, that the FBI had uncovered credible email evidence indicating then-Attorney General Loretta Lynch gave assurances to the Clinton campaign that she would protect Hillary and stop the FBI investigation into her classified emails/illegal server/national security violations before it went too far.
Former AG Lynch should be prosecuted for obstruction of justice.
Cleaver is a fool Obama should have fired him last summer for having the FBI getting involved in the election.

On January 12th of this year, Obama expanded the ability of all intelligence agencies to share information. This was done, to cover the tracks of unmasking of political Democrat political opponents in the process of, hopefully, acquiring information that could be used against them in elections, most specifically, the Presidential Election.
