TKC MUST READ!!! ANALYSIS: KANSAS CITY TAX FIGHTERS CELEBRATE NEW AIRPORT PROPOSAL OPEN BIDDING VICTORY!!!

We talked about this earlier today but the announcement of open bidding for the new airport project deserves a moment of late night contemplation.

Conspiracy theorists claim that this is all just political calculation and a stroke of genius by Mayor Sly who has moved the conversation forward . . . That's a nice theory but Mayor Sly and his corporate pals have never been that smart. Insiders understand that this deal was on its way to approval with no real checks or balances and the defense of this corruption was rabid and desperate.

Thankfully . . .

KANSAS CITY TAX FIGHTERS LIKE CFRG LED THE WAY IN CHALLENGING CORRUPTION AND EMBARRASSING MAYOR SLY INTO OPENING THE BIDDING!!!

Like it or not the open bidding is a victory for Democracy, Freedom of Speech, the online discourse . . . And fair trade capitalism.

Here's the word on the effort . . .

"Please don’t ever think your attendance and participation at meetings, calling and emailing your city Council Persons, Mayor, etc. does make a difference. As you can see below, The City has now decided to put the airport remodel and / or renovation up for bid solicitation. This is the way it should have been done in the first place. CAUTION: We will need to be sure the RFP is fair and honest and does not place limits to intentionally disqualify some qualified bidders. It must be open and honest for all. Open Bids is also the way any downtown convention hotel or any streetcar expansion proposals should be done. Bid them out! We must insist on this process from now on if we are to get the best deals for the city and taxpayers."

Citizens for Responsible Government

Again, this is important because CFRG led the way and not the Mayor's twitter army of social media d-bags and DEFINITELY NOT THE NEWSPAPER or any other MSM organization.

Like it or not, grassroots organizers who stand on local streets and talk to people while gathering petition signatures have proven more powerful than a global corporation valued at billions. And tonight, that's just a bit of good news.

Developing . . .

  1. This is whey voter petitions are important. It's not just about the streetcar or the hotel but about giving voters a voice.

  3. CFRG has not read the fine print. This is only for a new single terminal airport.

  4. Schulte was on television stating that whatever other bids came in from whoever, Burns and Mac would have the chance to match or beat it.
That's not really a bidding process.
And you may end up with a lower bid for a much lower quality project.
Once again, it's too bad these amateur bozos put the flying public and the taxpayers in this position.
    How's Mike's hotel coming?

  6. Who Cares? really? Why so much ink and bitching about a new airport? What do you care really? None of you own the airport, I don't care if you "like the convenience and ease of the old airport" BS. I don't wanna hear the BS of "it's my tax dollars" either. Horseshit. If you lemmings had your way, there would never be any change. we would still be driving horse & buggies, living in log cabins and shitting in outhouses. I hate to break it to you cupcakes, that's not how the world works. Not one of you mouth-breathers knows shit about municipal planning, economics, or municipal finance. So I ask again..who really cares what any of you think???

  7. 11:07, here's why.

Instead of 99 gates, or the 66 that the airlines agreed to a year ago, this plan builds just 35 gates. Fewer than we use NOW.

The existing airlines get first dibs and will never give up gates. They WILL keep competitors out of the market. and they WILL jack up airfares--hugely!

    That's why.

  9. ^^^What is "the adults way"? Did you mean "adult's" you fucking child? If you are one of the "adults"(see Jr., I used that correctly) you are referring to, that's high comedy right there. Back to middle school with you dumb-ass.

  14. JoCo Post, no one ever suggested that there would be 66 gates in a new terminal to start with, you're just making up numbers. The current airport has less than 40 gates that are inefficiently arranged, so 35 to start with seems right unless you suggest overbuilding something that may never be needed.
