TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! CITY HALL PROMISES 'MORE STRINGENT' KANSAS CITY SUMMER CURFEW CRACKDOWN!!!

The Kansas City Summer curfew stars this weekend ...

To wit . . .

THE SMARTEST DENIZENS OF OUR BLOG COMMUNITY REMIND US: THE 2017 SUMMER CURFEW CRACKDOWN IS UNDERWAY!!!

The Plaza has been focus of police efforts as authorities struggle assure fairness but also apply KCMO codes . . .

To make matters worse, over the past year . . . Grown ups and not youngsters have proven more dangerous to Plaza patrons amid increasing assaults, a deadly shooting, robberies and some naked guy wondering through parking lots.

Here's the latest word on the topic just released and sent by AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS . . .

Kansas City’s more stringent summer curfew is enforceable from May 26, 2017 (the Friday of Memorial Day weekend) to Sept. 24, 2017 (the last Sunday in September) and will be supported by an appropriate increased police presence.

For minors 15 and younger, the curfew is set at 10 p.m. For minors ages 16 and 17, the curfew is set at 11 p.m. in most parts of the City.

The City’s five entertainment districts – the Plaza, Westport, Downtown/Central Business District, 18th and Vine, and Zona Rosa – have a special curfew during summer months that requires anyone under 18 to be accompanied by a parent or guardian after 9 p.m. during those summer months.

Quick guide to the rules . . .

Will it "work" to prevent violence and keep youngsters, shoppers and party district patrons safe????

You decide . . .

  1. This failed last year. The party just moves further down the block and to surrounding neighborhoods.

The best thing would be to try and make the plaza safe for everyone all year round. We still haven't got there yet.

    1. Hate to say it but this is one area where the Chief Forte will be missed. He spent A LOT of time on the Plaza, maybe too much. Without direct control the weekend enforcement could quickly get out of hand.

  2. THIS IS SERIOUS! You've forced city hall to take drastic action:

YOU'LL ONLY GET FREE CHEESE PIZZAS!

No pepperoni, sausage or extra cheese will be served until further notice.

  3. 8:41---Very true, just ask the residents of Hyde Park and Brookside, they were amused as hell.

  4. Make the plaza safe for everyone eh? You do realize there is one party making it unsafe for the other party, not the other way around right? There are not roving bands of the other party creating problems.

  5. Think the city is serious about curfew violations?

PLEASE PROVIDE A LIST OF ALL PENALTIES/FINES IMPOSED UPON VIOLATORS!

It's one thing to tell parents to be responsible for their teenagers, or even send them a ticket, but it's quite different to actually carry through with any punishment. KCMO doesn't punish teens, not their guardians.

  6. Last year, now mayoral candidate Reed accused the police of racism and profiling because they issued tickets to the kids who were throwing stones at them.
Irresponsibility begins at the top of an organization, and there's more than enough to go around in KCMO government.
This summer will be worse than last year, just like the crime, violence, and even murders continue to spread.
It's really too bad that KCMO doesn't have a real municipal government that puts some priority and focus and spends some serious time addressing issues like the safety of its residents and visitors.

  7. Whoa! It is going to be a long, hot summer with many protests from the black community about how their darling kids are being harassed by the mean old police. Poor babies don't have anyplace to have fun. Warning to ordinary folks -- stay off the Plaza in the evening. Actually, you might stay off the Plaza permanently. Plaza shuts down - kid problem solved.

  8. Nice try. Too bad they won't even attempt to enforce it. Dipshit coon mayor and other coons on the city council wouldn't stand for it.

  9. The Plaza is worth fighting for! Call your council rep, call the mayor's office - the new PD Chief --show your support for making the Plaza safe --

    time to draw the line!

  10. Save the Plaza!

If it goes, the nearby suburbs will too.

Then, we'll have to move to Olathe. Yikes!

  11. Agree with @11:38. If the plaza goes, then so does Kansas City.

  12. Move to Olathe? Hola amigo, bienvenido!

  13. Ok,this summer when I see one or more of these little heathens out on the plaza, unaccompanied by an adult,I will call pd asap and wait, watch & follow the heathen.I will find out for myself if any action is taken by pd.

  14. The P. D. Is controlled by the K.C. Citizens. The P.D. Aren't independent contractors. When the Citizens have had enough then change will come and the cops will be let off the leash. Lookout when that happens the bad children don't know what police brutality is. This city can be cleaned up in six months but I doubt the citizens will allow it.

  15. Maybe they can just all hang out down at 43rd and Forest. There's plenty of vacant land nearby.

  16. 2:50 I don't think you truly have your ear to the heart of the Citizens, because belive this, were beyond ready.I know I am and I'd bet the majority of us are.

  17. five entertainment districts

    Jeezuz when is enough enough!

  18. I guess when they can conduct themselves as normal kids, instead of feral monkeys, who like to fuck with & hurt folks.

Maybe then it will be enough. Probably not though, because they ain't gonna be able to pull that off

  19. Have they tried cattle prods?

    ReplyDelete
  20. 2:50 you are wrong the state runs them not the city or its citizens but don't worry we taxpayers pay for everything they have including the three to four car crashes they get in every week

  21. Crackdown, curfew, bullshit. Young untrained begros will be running loose all summer, wherever and whenever they want. The cops will do nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  22. A coon is a coon is a coon. Know changing that. The plaza sucks. Stay away from the plaza. Cost to much anyway.
