Final suspect in Alexis Kane killing sentenced to 15 years
KANSAS CITY -- The last of three men charged in connection with the brutal killing of a 14-year-old eighth grader was sentenced to prison on Wednesday. A jury convicted Ce-Antonyo Kennedy of beating and shooting to death Alexis Kane two years ago at a south Kansas City water park.
It's a fucking shame that the poor girl was murdered and these fucks get a slap on the wrist

ReplyDeleteAll three were charged with first degree murder but the jurors knocked down the charges in their verdict to involuntary manslaughter on the shooter, Isaac Carter because they felt he "wrecklessly" caused her death and suggested a ten year sentence. The jury in Kennedys case knocked it down to 2nd degree murder and it was the judge who ordered he do the 15 instead of 25 as suggested by the jury.
DeleteThe prosecution was jam up on this case but yet again the judges and Jackson county jury pool went light on these guys. No wonder Jackson County is so violent.
Involuntary manslaughter? Wrecklessly causing her death when he's on video beating and executing her? Shame on the jury and the judges.
So long as Jackson County residents don't vote in the elections, the judges will stay the same.

ReplyDeleteIt was the jury in each case that made the verdict decisions, not the prosecutors office. In the shooters case the jury felt that Isaac Carter "wrecklessly" caused her death and dropped the murder down to involuntary manslaughter. It was the jury who did this and suggested a ten year sentence for him.
In this guys case, the jury came back with a murder two charge and recommended 25 years. The prosecution asked for 50 given the brutality of this case but the jury didn't think that Kennedy should serve that much time. Today, it was the judge who issued the 15 year sentence instead of 25.
I get on some cases plea bargains are needed because it gets a result on the case instead of taking it to trial with uncooperative witnesses and Jackson county jurors to give a free pass.
In this case, the prosecutors office charged all three with murder first and requested 50 years for each from the jury. The jury and judge handed down 7, 10, and 15 to these thugs. The result, emboldened guys on the streets knowing they can get little time for killing people. Violent crimes rise in KC is directly because of the judges. Shitty sentences and recognizance bonds for robbery and shooting suspects needs to be looked at by the star or someone looking for a legit story

ReplyDeleteLet me clear some things up for all of you. I was a juror on CeAntonyo's case.
ReplyDeleteNone of you saw the evidence we saw, and none of you had to make the decision we had to make based off of the actual evidence in this case. You don't rule based on your feelings, or from evidence posted in the news.
CeAntonyo got the harshest sentence of them all, and yet, there was no proof that he killed Alexis Kane. The evidence clearly showed it was his gun, that he piston whipped her, and that he shot AT her. But the prosecution did not prove that he killed her or even planned to kill her, or that any of his bullets hit her. It was evident by the video and two eyewitnesses that he shot around her, at her feet, but did not shoot her. For that, we could not give him 1st degree murder. The prosecution could not prove it was premeditated. However, in Missouri, the law states, that you are responsible for your actions, and the actions of those you are with. Because of this, per the court rules, if we felt that either he or Isaac Carter killed her, that we must convict him of murder. So we did. We felt Issac Carter clearly killed this girl.
Which leads me to Isaac Carter. I'm absolutely baffled how another jury could have found him guilty of only involuntary murder. It blows my mind that another jury saw what we saw and came to that conclusion. He literally ripped the gun from Ce's hands because Ce didn't kill her, and walked up to her, point blank, and fired 7 rounds into her. Before he walked up to her shooting, she was alive, and after he got back in the car she was not. It seemed pretty clear to us, that Issac murdered that girl, it was his idea, he lured her in the first place, and he should have gotten Murder 1. Either the prosecution did a terrible job, or the defense did a great job, but his sentence is easily the biggest travesty of this entire case. They didn't even inform us (jurors) what his sentence was. We weren't allowed to know.
Judge Campbell ruled how he felt was right based off the actual evidence in this case. None of you had to sit through weeks or months of seeing the evidence, and hearing the testimony of the eye witnesses. I bet none of you know that there was a 4th person in the car with the 3 guys. She is walking the streets right now. She had just as much to do with it as Dominick McDaniel.
I'm not ashamed that we sentenced him to 15/10. I still feel to this day that Ce did not kill that girl. He certainly played a role, and for that role he will spend more time in jail than the others in this case, but the one who started, instigated, and executed that girl will walk in 10 years. That's just crazy to me.
