It's is kinda sad because that means that he's somewhere watching TV and counting people of color rather than focusing on what guests are saying . . . More proof that KC "progressives" can be just as racist as anyone else - The emphasis on quotas and headcounts reveal this critic to focus FIRST on racial identity rather than any other concern.
Nevertheless, his criticism doesn't seem to apply to an annual celebrity event that confirms Hollywood's notorious lack of diversity and this adoration of a cast of all-white guy Kansas City B-listers helping to boost their likeability . . .

Sure, it's for a great cause but there's also a chance that this Hollywood celebrity festival seems to have left the critical insights of MO Rage starstruck and silent on his constant struggle to fight for civil rights by way of his keyboard. . . Also, it is kind of curious that Don Cheadle or Eddie Griffin or any bigger names with better work from KC aren't included in the national press hype for this charity event.
Is Big Slick a good cause regardless of its lack of diversity??? OF COURSE . . . Even better, the event confirms that star power and good vibes are far more important to local critics than remaining consistent about their pet causes.

ReplyDeleteWhat's additionally, finally, so hilarious about you bringing this all up now is that on tonight's "Ruckus" program on KCPT, there were--count 'em--3 women and 2 men on the program and one of the women was a minority.
If anything, this program tonight proves KCPT seems to agree we need more diversity in the viewpoints expressed on the program about the city and our needs. That we aren't just supposed to hear from 4 middle-aged and older white guys with one white woman on the side, to address the city's and area's issues.
