TKC TUESDAY QUESTION: WHERE SHOULD KANSAS CITY START INFRASTRUCTURE REPAIR WITH NEW GO BOND CASH?!?!
The bond language was sketchy and mostly non-binding . . . Despite a lot of big promises.
Following the election victory, the guarantees keep coming:
City Manager Troy Schulte: “We will be efficient and transparent as we start rebuilding our city. Thank you to Kansas City residents for their willingness to do their part to rebuild our City’s infrastructure. Tackling these long-deferred maintenance issue will reward our residents with more livable neighborhoods and improved property values.”
This Thursday at the Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, the City Manager will update the committee on the next steps for GO Bond implementation by the City.

Efficient and transparent?
Like the ToyTrain vote? Like the secrecy surrounding the downtown convention center hotel financing? Like the purposeful lying about KCI? Like your benign neglect of the East side until a documentary shamed you into taking a little action?
Willingness to do their part?
Higher taxes! Higher taxes on the working-class because Schulte/James/Council continue to give away massive tax breaks to those who make campaign contributions and favors. Most developers in KCMO won't do squat without heavy incentives because the corrupt leadership has trained them to act that way.
"Long-deferred maintenance issues"?
Long deferred, because Schulte/James/Council operate the city budget in a slip-shod manner. This $800M bond issue was a manufactured crisis brought about by an entrenched pattern of municipal fiscal malfeasance.
