In the aftermath of a religious holiday weekend, here's the recap of a tragic standoff that resulted in a fatality and the latest local murder:
Northeast News: According to KCPD, officers were called to the area of Nicholson and Prospect on the afternoon of Sunday, April 16 at approximately 4:30 p.m. on a shooting call. Upon arrival, officers located the victim with a gunshot wound to the stomach. He was transported to an area hospital, and at the time was listed in serious but stable condition. The victim of the shooting is the brother of the suspect and died at an area hospital.
This is the 33rd murder this year compared to the 28 at this time last year as the homicide count once again stands at a 5-year-high.
