End Game: Kansas City Sports Broadcaster Legend Frank Bosl Announces Retirement

A local broadcasting legend completes one of the greatest sports careers in Kansas City history.

Take a look:

Frank Boal, sports director at KSHB-TV, Kansas City’s 41 Action News Station, is stepping away from the sports desk after informing and entertaining Kansas City sports fans for more than four decades. Boal will deliver his final sports broadcast on June 29.

Mr. Boal might be one of the biggest influences on the mostly upbeat and enthusiastic local sports coverage we see today that's endemic of Kansas City area sports dudes who are hesitant to criticize home team management or policy . . . They didn't cultivate this style on their own . . . For better or worse Frank Boal pioneered local "fan-centric" coverage and now just about everybody copies his style but don't manage to do it without coming off like a suck-up . . . Which was one of Frank Boal's many gifts.

You decide . . .
