KANSAS CITY MAYOR SLY JAMES FREE SPEECH FACT CHECK: STATE OF THE CITY 2017 BASED MOSTLY ON PHONY STATS!!!

As promised, here's THE ONLY KANSAS CITY FREE SPEECH OPEN FORUM for fact checking the state of the city speech by Mayor Sly James tonight.

Credit to Northeast News for the "borrowed" photo . . . And the only real takeaway that doesn't help propagate a political agenda . . .

MAYOR SLY CITED ONE PHONY STAT AFTER THE NEXT IN HIS SALES PITCH TO VOTERS!!!

Here are just a few examples out of many . . .

The Mayor started his remarks with this dubious number . . .

Perspective, that phony stat claims Kansas City has more tourists than Denver. And they already have legal weed.

And then . . .

The Mayor tragically attempts to tout progress against violence in KCMO . . .

Reality check . . . City Hall isn't providing any increase in funding for police while the current homicide count stands @ 27 which is more than a 22% increase over last year in which violence was up nearly 30% from the year before that . . .

KANSAS CITY REMAINS IN THE MIDST OF A HOMICIDE SPIKE THAT MAYOR SLY DIDN'T MENTION!!!

A highlight . . .

More toy train hype . . .

Reality, check the streetcar ridership numbers and realize February garnered the SECOND LOWEST monthly ridership numbers for the streetcar since in started in May. Meanwhile, the novelty has worn off and another secret ballot corrupt election is on the way.

Feel free to doubt TKC . . . But our blog community isn't trying to garner a blank check from voters next week.

Fact is . . .

This is likely the most uninspiring speech Mayor Sly has given to date. The mayor's words tonight were nothing more than a sales pitch at at time when Kansas City desperately needs real leadership in the face fewer federal funds, hostile political enemies and a rising murder count.

You decide . . .

    1. Very surprised that he went with the 24 million number that has been so widely refuted. Just like most politicians, he doesn't really care about facts.

  2. A phony Mayor uses phony states to sell his snake oil.

Not a thing new taking place there. This clown has made book on slip sliding his way around the truth for years now and sadly many swallow it hook line and sinker.

  3. I would say that he's worse than Trump but that would be a really horrible insult to Trump.

  4. Some dude got shot in ferguson few hours ago. Security guard shot him. Something about a dog chasing someone then the dogs owner coming out with a gun a got shot. Im sure it will change soon, but thats kind of the jist of it.

  5. The dude who was shot in Ferguson was in the same complex where mike brown was shot when he attacked the cop.

  6. The worst news about Sly is that he has repeated this crap so many times that he's actually come to believe it's true.
It's going to be a long couple years ahead.
    Next up?
What should Sly's adoring crowds name after him?

  7. Can you offer any evidence to prove what he's saying is phony?

  8. Yeah Tony just saying they're false doesn't make it so.

    Prove what you say.
    JUST ONCE.

  9. Shall we start offering Tony Tidbits without the need to prove them?

  11. SLYSTER CLEAVER DEMOCRATS believe that if you never talk about the Plaza shit hole crime and murders , none of that ever happened ¡! Even if he got shot at last year , it was probably just a car back firing !¡

  12. So do we really believe that Kansas City has more tourists then Denver?

    KC = 24 million

    Denver = 16 million

Does anybody believe that's a really stat?

Seems kind of phony to me.

  13. I support my Mayor. He has his haters but you can't be serious when you say that he is worse than Funkhouser. That might be a low standard but at least he is doing better than the last guy.

And I'll take him over Clay Chastain any day.

  14. Wrong again TKC. The Mayor gave a great speech tonight. What he is dealing with is the worst city council KCMO has ever seen. The most duplicitous and self-serving. They all want to be mayor but that's not going to happen.

  17. Voting for $800 million would be just as good as throwing it down the toilet. There is very little accountability in Kansas City and this would be a disaster for our city.

Do we need new sidewalks? Yes.

Should we maintain our infrastructure? Of course.

But this money won't get that done. It'll be wasted on more hotels, a new airport and more money for the streetcar.

Sly keeps lying to us and it's starting to get old.

  18. Very surprised that he went with the 24 million number that has been so widely refuted.

    By whom?

    Jack the Ripper?

    1. Because we obviously have WAY more tourists than Denver!!

  19. Yeah it's funny that the link posted that "refutes" the 24 million figure is devoid of any proof.

    Isn't that funny? I think that's funny.

  20. Walked into this event tonight and I was sad to see nothing more than the usual suspects. These are all of Sly's friends and nobody else. There were lawyers, non profit workers, City Hall employees who Sly is protecting.

Very few real people from the community.

I was also very surprised to see how few Black people were in the crowd. It was only a short distance from Troost but the audience was predominantly white and dressed very nicely. I couldn't shake the feeling that this was an upper class crowd enjoying a nice night at the museum. I'm white and I'm also a a lawyer but my upbringing was "humble" to say the least and what I can say for sure this that this was not a crowd of every day Kansas City people. These were politicians and attorneys congratulating one another. I couldn't help but think that real Kansas Citians wouldn't be so happy about the direction of this town is taking.

  21. Anybody who believes that Kansas City gets 24 million tourists a year if a fucking shill working for the mayor.

That's a FAKE NEWS NUMBER and it's just more bullshit from Sly.

  22. Chris slapped me!3/28/17, 11:29 PM

^^^^ But wait a second. Doesn't the the streetcar get 10,000 riders a day?

And there is never any crime in KC. We're all doing doing great and everybody has a job and hot blonde, skinny wife with Sly in charge.

He even gave the east side some of his left over pants.

They made a tent for all of the homeless.

    Viva Sly!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I hope you realize that you haters just make the Mayor seem stronger!

He is the best salesmen KC has ever seen. We have our problems but I'll take Sly any day over some of his competition who have no imagination or leadership. Sly is great for our city and we have seen a lot of progress under his leadership.

Hate all you want, you just embarrass yourself!

but if they do, how will accountability ever be established?

a no vote would open a more serious discussion about the future of the city.

    vote no!

  32. Really? Again with the 24 million? That's 65-thousand people per day. Is common sense now outlawed at City Hall ???

    1. That does seem pretty high. Didn't they recount the World Series parade and find out that it was a great time but there were 200,000 people there and not 1 million?
