ReplyDeleteWouldn't want to be the welder who caused it.
ReplyDeleteYou mean it costs more than the $50000 the developer put in the relief fund ?
ReplyDeleteAnyone foolish enough to have a wood roof is asking to be a victim.
ReplyDeleteEdinburgh, Scotland, outlawed them @1650 as fire hazards.
Phil is right, you have to be a total moron to place a wood shingle roof on your house. Some folks have even go to colored metal roofs on there homes because they are safer yet.
ReplyDeletea very short time after the fire started, I was contacted by several friends for my thoughts...as a former firefighter...KCFD many years ago, my response was...weekday, active worksite, late afternoon ...most likely a workman using a cutting torch or a welder...a typical cause for these types of incidents...the OPFD has determined it an "accident"...not so, it was "carelessness"...had that incident occurred on a military installation, there would surely be a General Courts Marshall...that type of operation requires a "Hot Work Permit" at industrial sites, two workmen, one with a fire extinguisher and a set procedure to perform the work and insure there are no "hot spots"...that careless workman just cost us..that's you and me, 25 million plus...
