TKC MUST READ!!! KANSAS CITY INSIDERS FEAR CITY HALL ENDLESS LOVE WITH PROPERTY TAX INCREASES IF UPCOMING $800 MILLION APRIL GO BONDS APPROVED!!!

An important note from the Citizens For Responsible Government is circulating on the local Internets and it's important to share.

Here's a warning about the latest tax increase plan from City Hall:

CFRG: “THE BONDS WILL AUTHORIZE THE CITY TO MAINTAIN TANGIBLE PROPERTY TAX RATES SUFFICIENT TO PAY INTEREST AND PRINCIPAL ON THE BONDS UNTIL FULLY PAID.”

This means we give the City permission to raise property taxes to whatever level they need to pay the bonds for the next 40 years without any vote of the people.

Put even more simply for our beloved TKC blog community . . .

FEAR ENDLESS KANSAS CITY PROPERTY TAX INCREASES IF CITY HALL PASSES $800 MILLION WORTH OF GO BONDS!!!

To be fair, City Hall isn't being specific with voters about what the cash will fund IN ADDITION TO a great deal of secrecy regarding the fine print.

You decide . . .

  6. It's amazing that the bozos at city hall insist on shoveling money out the door with tax breaks and special deals for insiders, then turn right around and increase property taxes on the residents and small businesses in KCMO.
And all the while provide minimal municipal services of the kind that actually mean something to people, like public safety and decent streets.
And even more amazing is that a minority of KCMO residents keep approving this crap and electing and re-electing exactly the same kinds of people year after year after year.
It's hard to tell who's the dumber.

  7. It's amazing how CFRG could probably misinterpret a smile as a hate crime.

  8. Aren't they the ones who idiotically (and falsely) claimed Wall Street could seize our houses and property?

    Talk about stupid.

  9. I'm sick to death of being the scape goat for corrupt lazy local bozos at both city halls in KCMO & KCK. Why in the hell do we have to be punished every year for owning and maintaining property? I'm selling out and getting out of MO & KS. Crazy bastards spend money on their foolishness, then ask for another $800 million after giving their pals huge tax breaks.

The damn is breaking in California due to corrupt lazy fools placed in office have been stealing public funds for decades. Citizens fleeing like rats only have themselves to blame for keeping these crooks in office. Ditto for KCMO & KCK citizens.

  10. I would like City Hall to shut down the dog and pony show, and explain to us voters in simple terms EXACTLY why they need this money. That's not likely to happen. It's all a PR game now.

  11. Well of course the city is going to try to ream taxpayers any and every way they possibly can.

It's the only way they can keep the house of cards standing another three years.

  12. good pr by sly as seen by a total outsider.

bet it passes, unless there's some anomaly that affects turnout.
