  1. If the rubes in KCMO fall for this utterly transparent scheme, they're even stupider than anyone could imagine.
Looks like the Star has gone from being just a shill for the 12th and Oak gang to becoming a full-fledged insider and purveyor of misinformation.
Probably not a bad idea to have some employment options when the paper folds, but it's too bad to try to take advantage of the public as a way to get there.
Nobody is going to spend billions to build a commercial airport in Johnson County.
Upgrade KCI and then hire someone to run it who will actually maintain and improve the facilities.

  2. If Kansas is going to build an airport, we certainly shouldn't be voting on one over here. Let's save the money. Call their bluff.

  4. Isn't this the same council member who chaired "an intense engagement" on public safety by chairing a committee that met for an entire year and produced NO RESULTS?
    Leadership in KCMO!
    The circus continues.

  5. Johnson County never shells out money for anything. No way they are going to all of a sudden shell out $2 billion dollars for an airport that's not really needed over there when they are about 30 minutes away from one. It'd be an exercise in waste and excess for them. Which is something Johnson County just doesn't do. Fake news cooked up by S'lie and his cronies to get their precious new airport.

  6. She can't even conduct that interview with a straight face. It'd be laughable if it weren't so sad. Fake news in an effort by S'lie to get his airport.

  7. there is not going to be a new commercial airport in johnson or wyandotte county, kansas.

they are too developed now and the environmental impact would be unacceptable.

mci as it was known in the late sixties and early seventies, was wide open with farms around it and not much density in concentric circles.

if an airport way out, say miami county, kansas, were contemplated, it would be possible. it would be far away from downtown KCMO, however.

the whole idea is a pipedream at best.

  8. And even if JOCO does build a new airport, so what? Worst case it provides competition for ticket prices and offers more options.

And when the Royals and Chiefs come calling JACO, KCMO and the state of Missouri wanting $2 billion each for new stadiums in 10 years, let them go to Kansas. Kansas is already in debt up to their assholes. Let them continue to dig their hole deeper. We got enough financial issues on the Missouri side.

  10. Brownback did not release this information. It's in the news because the Star (aka City Hall Daily) put it there.

  11. This woman is mentally ill if she thinks anybody believes what she says. She was a joke at the Legislature and has continued her lack of ability on our city council.
