And once again, like it or not, here is our blog community FLEXING OUR KICK-ASS INFLUENCE on the local discourse as Library dude Crosby Kemper III is forced to taste my pain and attempt to do some re-branding. Meanwhile, odds are most of our blog community is reading this on a phone or tablet. Take a peek: Kansas City Public Library embraces the homeless

Imagine that: a public library that serves the public.

Last I checked 'hobos' were Americans, too. In fact, many of them are veterans.

  2. Yeah homeless people, come to the library to "have a cup of coffee and a pastry". And surf our internet to watch some good p0rn!

  3. They control the libraries.

  4. HOMELESS or HOUSING REFUGEES?

While the liberals, the clergy, and do-gooders everywhere are wailing about the proposed temporary ban on foreign immigration to reform security protocol, why aren't they embracing this opportunity to focus on the American housing refugees?

Probably, because so many of them are boring white, English-speaking, and American-born.

  5. Well, they've been making BMs there for years, might as well give them the lodging to go with it.

  6. They have a safe place to go. Access to knowledge. A chance to improve. Relief from the elements. A clean place for respite. Something is wrong if it is full to the brim. A line around the block to get in. No serious conversation will ever take place because of fear of retaliation

  7. The bum population is much better controlled in the central library's current location than it was when at 12th and McGee. More than once I have seen a boisterous bum escorted out. Still, they take up nearly all the tables and chairs, for the whole day, so that normal patrons are often left standing. I have noticed one skill that seems to be common among them: the ability to sleep sitting up with an open book in front of them.

  8. They have the libraries. I suggest other patrons encourage recreation centers and other safe agencies to go to and use their facilities. Safer to have books delivered to you then hoods follow you or know you are not home to rob.

  9. Wouldn't it be nice if Google helped those other places? Spread the information through out the city. Time for book mobiles. If they have food trucks in barren places, so is the thirst for knowledge. RIF mobiles. Old school yet needed in theses hard times. Beats putting books in dumpsters. Seniors love the idea. Those with disabilities too. ADA is still valid?

  11. With the right motivation...great things can be accomplished. One has to note and be grateful for all the changes being made for the greater good. Power has responsibilities. If you teach a man to fish...
