Only the dullards downtown would believe that anyone in Kansas City gives a flying fuck where the local airport is located. If Johnson County had really wanted to pay for it, most of us would have forgotten KMCI as quickly as a Southwest 737 can get airborne.

ReplyDeleteGiven the urban sprawl that's happening in the KC metro as a whole, it almost seems inevitable that KC could end up like the Dallas/Ft Worth metro which has two major airports- Dallas Love Field and Dal/FTW International.

And the video at the top of the article very well summarizes what passes for municipal government in KCMO.
In fact, the characters even resemble some of the incumbents!
So a bunch of Republican businessmen who stand to make millions from a new KCI cash in on their contributions to a Kansas governor and he agrees to help them get a new KCI. No one ever said there was any honesty in politics.
ReplyDeleteWho gives a shit where the airport is located. If JOCO wants to pony up $2 billion dollars to build an airport, so what? Let them. I seriously doubt there anything beyond mere talk on the Kansas side to do it anyway considering the entire state is in debt up to their collective assholes.
ReplyDeleteThe cemeteries on KCI property are going to be responsible for shutting it down. They bull dozed one but there is graphic proof of that, so Trump's boys will shut it down and give the new deal to Kansas.
ReplyDeleteSouthwest Airlines made their money by using second tier, unwanted airports, in major cities.
ReplyDeleteIf KCI turns into a second tier airport Southwest would still be there and get to use it for less money than they are paying now.

ReplyDeleteWhat would be so bad about Kansas building or even taking over a regional airport. It is much cleaner over there and travelers could pretty much bypass the ghetto and scum on the Missouri side.
