TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! CITY HALL CONFRONTS LAWSUIT TO FORCE $15 MINIMUM WAGE VOTE ON KANSAS CITY APRIL BALLOT!!!

Once again a courtroom battle will determine the course of a Kansas City election.

Remember that last week The Missouri Supreme Court ordered Kansas City to put a proposed minimum-wage hike to $15 an hour on the ballot after an impressive victory won by attorneys Taylor Fields and Clinton Adams.

On Thursday, 3rd District Councilman Jermaine Reed introduced legislation to accomplish as much and it won approval from the Council BUT the majority of 7 still failed to surpass the 9 votes required by the City Charter. The issue remains in the T&I committee which Councilman Reed chairs.

More importantly . . .

ADVOCATES OF THE $15 MINIMUM WAGE INCREASE ARE NOW PLANNING ANOTHER LAWSUIT THAT WOULD FORCE THE ISSUE ON THE APRIL BALLOT!!!

The charter requirement is viewed as a technicality and contrary to the previous judgement of the Missouri Supreme Court . . . The official deadline to get an issue on the ballot was yesterday but a lawsuit threatens to override that rule and insiders are confident they'll win WHEN they file . . . THAT will have to happen quickly given that it takes about two weeks to get a judgement.

Now, it's really a question of meeting the ballot printing deadline . . . Still, a ruling in favor of "fair wage" advocates could force an expensive reprinting.

Finally, voters face an April ballot which also includes marijuana reform legislation along with $800 MILLION worth of bond questions and the campaign leading up to the decision day could be far more interesting than City Hall leaders had hoped.

    If he doesn't, he's toast.

  2. Clinton Adams cares about people making $15/hour? I don't believe it.

  3. Sly may have to make some adjustments with local illegals to get the bacon.

"Federal agencies are going to unapologetically enforce the law, no ifs, ands, or buts."

Federal grant money will be stripped from so-called "sanctuary cities" that harbor undocumented immigrants from the federal government.

  5. The Supreme Court ruled as they did because they can't rule on an idea. There has to be an actual law passed for them to declare it constitutional or not.
KCMO will go through this charade, spend a bunch of money, confuse their April ballot, where they desperately want the $800 million bond issue to pass, and then the court will rule that establishing a minimum wage is not allowable under Missouri municipal home rule.
This is a despicable scam foisted on the local $15/hour crowd by electeds like Reed, who doesn't have a clue, and Sly, who's desperate to punch up his sagging D-list celebrity popularity.
How about just fixing the streets and getting a handle on the horrendous murder rate?
    Otherwise know as, their jobs!

  7. Layoff the Cops NOT City Hall workers.
    Cut the Cops pay too.

  8. If this $15 gets on the April ballot, no way will the $800M pass.

Sly will do everything he can to keep it off the ballot.
He don't care what it will cost for a ballot reprint or anything else.

Hes got to have the $800M or his legacy will FAIL!

  11. The boons will pass it as the Peckerwoods sit on their fat asses. Fast food and hotels will look like a ghost town inside the city limits. Eventually entrepreneurs will replace humans with kiosks wherever possible and fewer will be employed. In the mean time a couple of fucking crony assed lawyers will force their will on everyone's pocketbook come hell or high water - all in the namer of their version of what is fair. More boon pandering, less education, failure to rise up, no contribution to society and were will here how whitey continued to fuck the boot lips as the service just gets worse.

  12. I think we need to continue focusing on political correctness and "software coding" while shoehorning everyone into useless, rip-off four-year college degrees.

  13. Did anyone see the article in the San Francisco paper Sunday? Well if you missed it they're wondering why all the smaller restaraunts are going out of business started in 2014 and is impacting their restaraunt community they think it's the 15$ min wage.. look it up..

  15. This will destroy small business in Kansas City.

  16. If Sly was smart, he will find a way to get this off of the ballot.

  17. What a waste of time and energy. Save your money. This isn't going to happen even if 100% of the voters approve it. McDonald's won't be giving you a raise. They'll replace you with a computer before that happens. Get a second job. A third if you must. Like generations before you did to provide. It sucks. I know. Sometimes reality does.

  18. They could never in force it anyway.

  19. I guess no more McDonald's in KC? Thanks Sly!

  20. Yup',, $15.00 an hour and get to work 2 to 4 whole hours a week !!!!

take taxes out of that and gas and they should make around $7.00 to $9.00 dollars for an entire week !!!

That's before they are permanently replaced by those new Techno' Computer Robot Kiosks that'll take your orders !!!!

Rumor has it that after they get their $15.00 an hour,,,, next their gonna want a company car too, like a BMW or Porche to drive to and from work.

Cost of "eating out" after all this libtard nonsence ?????

McDonalds = $175.47 for just a burger and fry

Burger King = $154.97 for just a burger

    Taco Hell $ 232.58 for 3 taco's & a drink

Pizza Hut = 765.79 for a small cheesy Pizza

Olive Garden = You can't afford it so why bother

Dennys = You can't afford it why bother

    Mannys = closed
