KANSAS CITY ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVISTS TOLD YOU SO!!! BOYCOTT CRUEL COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA HORSE CARRIAGES AFTER SHOCKING MULTIPLE INJURY FLIP!!!

In the cold, rainy weather and under the Country Club Plaza lights, a horse strapped down to hundreds of pounds worth of riders and equipment ran onto the sidewalk and the carriage flipped.

Rather than just report the sensational Kansas City stories without context, let's put it in perspective . . .

ANIMAL RIGHTS ACTIVISTS HAVE CONTINUALLY PROTESTED AGAINST CRUEL COUNTRY CLUB PLAZA RIDES AND LAST NIGHT'S DANGEROUS FLIP PROVES THE ATTRACTION IS UNFIT FOR MAN OR BEAST!!!

Evidence . . .

KCTV5: One person ejected, horse and others injured after horse carriage accident on the Plaza

KSHB: A horse careened into a sidewalk Saturday night on the Country Club Plaza.

Toriano Porter: KCMO officers clear the scene after a horse-drawn carriage was involved in an accident on the Plaza. Witness says horse was out of control.

Again . . .

Kansas City activists have demanded the end of these rides for years out of concern for animals and their callous use for holiday themed commerce. Additionally, the impediment to traffic is always a pain for drivers.

We've talked to a few activists on the topic and here's a quote we've pulled . . .

"This practice should be universally condemned by anyone who cares about the well-being of the horses. The horses look tired, this commercial work puts them in the path of cars, exhaust and so many other elements out of their  natural habitat for no good reason. It's also unsafe and unkind for people to use these rides. The more people know this the better. The rides need to stop during Christmastime and all-year-round."

And so we put it to our blog community . . .

SHOULD THE PLAZA PERMANENTLY BAN HORSE CARRIAGE RIDES FOR SAFETY AND TO PROTECT THE ANIMALS???

You decide . . .

  1. Some of these folks would argue that horse drawn carriages in general is cruel and I don't support that. But their case for not mixing horses with cars is apt and it's what most cities agree on which is why we don't see horses on city streets except for parades.

    1. Absolutely agree with this pet cause of yours TKC. Haha!

The horses are old KC and it doesn't make sense to keep them around when they're obviously dangerous.

  3. Country Club Plaza is a fucking mess. It's been a slow motion train wreck in the making since the 90's.

Only thing saving it at this point is some people still actually believe all the overblown hype that its really a special place rather then the run of the mill congested suburban joke it's become.

  4. I'm sure that the horses would rather be on an Amish farm pulling a plow. Idiots.

  5. Plaza is about as unique and interesting as 75th and Metcalf these days.

  6. Offering tourists rides in old customized chevys that bounce up and down or noisy crotch rocket rides would be more appropriate for this new modernized Plaza.

Obviously the Plaza needs me to fix the Stoplights so they work optimally for horses and people. Being the Mizzou genius I am, it would be a cinch. Not that I would expect any TKC bloggers to know the difference between red yellow or green. But you can sing my praises anywany.

  8. You mean a horse is being used to pull a cart? Holly fuck who the hell dreamed that up? Jesus let's tar and feather somebody. We need to stop all uses of horses including horse racing, plowing by Mennonites, dude ranches, stud service and we must stop European from consuming horse meat like they have for a couple thousand years. We must not put shoes on horses. In fact we should treat them just like out boons. We provide for them and should never expect a thing out of them. Even more critical is we must stop the horse drama around here!

  9. Fucktards... it's a matter of using the proper animal, training them correctly and having competent drivers. Buggy & wagon wrecks are virtually unheard 0f among the Amish where horses and drives navigate traffic daily.

As usual these animal right people are far dumber than the animals they profess to protect.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go for a Plaza horse ride, just to piss you people off. Keep paying your gas taxes to my wallet when you fill up your lemons in MO. I deserve it.

What we do is package it as economic development and consulting proposals and present it to the clueless rubes who work at 12th and Oak.

Give it a try; there's always plenty of money at KCMO city hall.

  20. Poor horse had to be put down. Don't really care about any of the humans. Just like when an elephant gets loose at the circus. I'm rooting for the animals. Let's hope this is the end of that tradition. The Plaza is cooked anyway.

  21. BREAKING!!!!!!!!

KCMO Mayor and Council vote to fast-track ordinance calling for removal of streetcar line in favor of horse-drawn carriage scheme!!
Sly James reports the inspiration came to him in a flash after a night of wining and dining on the Plaza at taxpayer's expense. "We'll be the envy of Portland!" exclaimed James.

    In related news....

Brain-dead protesters on the Plaza continue calling for a ban on horse-drawn carriages, citing -- "The horses look tired, this commercial work puts them in the path of cars, exhaust and so many other elements out of their natural habitat for no good reason. It's also unsafe and unkind for people to use these rides." After concluding their senseless protest, participants donned their leather coats and shoes, grabbed a hamburger, and left the Plaza in their SUV's. No comments were offered as to why they support the slaughter of cows and Middle Eastern residents, while holding a soft spot in their hearts for horses.

  24. YES!!! I've hated that practice for years. What can be done to stop it once and for all? I suppose the horse involved in the accident will have to be put down? And through no fault of its own.

  28. In case you haven't heard, 2:31, they had to euthanize the horse, who suffered in pain lying in the middle of the street. Nice Plaza scene, eh?

Everyone, please go to change.org and sign the petition to ban these rides once and for all.

  29. Enough! Lived in the area for 22 years! Cruel and abusive! I am hopeful the mayor will step up and stop this abuse! We live in the 21st century! No need for a horse and carriage on black too or cement for the joy of humans! Traffic and animals don't mix!

    ReplyDelete
  30. Bullshit. Block off the roads, brink them up, make the area a walking mall and keep the horse carriages running in the safe area. Fucking maggots drive like idiots in the Plaza area anyway.
