Kansas City Interfaith Building Communities

Kansas City's top faith writer offers perspective on an important housing effort . . .

"Habitat’s Abraham house-building effort — involving Kansas City-area Jews, Christians and Muslims — has nearly completed its fifth home, this one near 31st Street and Highland Avenue. And although there’s still much left to do to promote widespread interfaith understanding and cooperation, people involved in this work are convinced they’ve made a difference and are committed to continuing. This is especially important as Americans recover from a foul presidential campaign that unleashed forces of bigotry and darkness."

  5. Maybe the issue isn't all this interfaith Kumbaya. Maybe the real thing is that it's all a work of fiction, and these people are quabbling over their crumbs of historical story telling. They can stand there and feel good about themselves, but at the end of the day, you can't as a Jew, Muslim and Christian hold hands and say it's all water under the bridge. Neither the Muslim or Christian faith tolerates any other religion. Both hold themselves as the One True Religion. So while this interfaith discussion is cute and all, deep down the problem isn't any one faith. It's all faiths. It's religion that divides people, not unites them. Inspires hatred, intolerance, and disgust for no reason. Give up the religion, give up the hatred.

  6. Lets see.... If they could possibly build 25 homes per year (which they can't). How many centuries would it take to house all the "poor" people in KC?

  8. No, we're not recovering from ONE campaign, Mr. T. America has endured over four decades of the Clintons' lies and crookedness has unleashed forces of bigotry and darkness. "I did not have sex with that woman...", "... bimbo eruptions...", "... dodged sniper fire...", "... super-predators...", "... keep hot sauce in my purse.", " Ah ain't no wayz tahred.", "...a basket of deplorables.", "short-circuited".
