Kansas City 'Bike Friendly' Spin Continues

The reality is that local streets are actually rather dangerous for cyclists despite high profile projects where middle-class biking "advocates" are used as props for the current development agenda.

On the bright side . . . It's obvious that this bit of civic engagement is important to a great many Brookside residents who would bother even more people while continuing to impede traffic if it weren't for this brief local spotlight. Take a look:

Call it a chain reaction. As Kansas City continues to increase its bike facilities, a national organization has renewed the City’s status as a bronze level Bike Friendly Community. The League of American Bicyclists announced the renewal this week as the City prepares to roll out several new bike projects next year.

“We continue to incorporate bike facilities into our infrastructure plans,” says Kansas City Public Works Director Sherri McIntyre. “We certainly look forward to advancing our status as a bike friendly community and we are confident we will be successful.”
