COUNCIL CHALLENGES MAYOR SLY ART FESTIVAL KANSAS CITY NTDF RAID!!!

There are a lot of reasons the artsy party proposed by Mayor Sly James in Swope Park is a bad idea . . . But questions over a sketchy budget and EPIC ask top this list from City Council.

Credit where it's due, this is a pretty great report:

Newspaper: Questions arise over proposed Kansas City arts festival funding

Deets:

"The $250,000 would be one of the largest neighborhood tourism fund grants provided in at least the past five years, for a project that’s not nearly as well defined as the city’s process usually requires. The Neighborhood Tourist Development Fund committee, which recommends projects for funding to the City Council, normally requires a complete application and budget for an established event."

  1. We don't have enough art festivals. This will only add 1 million more tourists.

  3. They will say the $250,000 will go to an Art Festival and then some how the money will be mismanaged and end up back into their own pockets. Text book example of how local government works.

  4. $250,000 for a rinky-dink art festival? where most of the help is volunteers working for free?

WHAT THE ALMIGHTY FUCK? Are they serving free caviar and champagne or what???

  5. This is just like the taxpayer-provided picnics where $15,000 is spent on hot dogs and chips and like 47 people show up.
These gigs are always about WHO gets the money and never about what's done with it.
So who's going to get most of the $250 grand for "consulting and planning"?
    Round up the usual suspects.

  8. Sly and his posse must feel pretty emboldened to look to grab out a quarter of a million unaccounted for dollars from the public till. My guess is they dont think anyone will take the time to buck the system and subject them to even the most peripheral oversight. Oh well, we elected and re-elected the Obese Bowtie. Whores bitta eat... we should know better :(
