TKC MUST READ!!! KANSAS CITY'S GREATEST ENEMY OF THE 2ND AMENDMENT: MAYOR SLY JAMES DENOUNCES 'DOUBLING DOWN ON STUPID' GUN RIGHTS SENATE BILL 656 AND URGES MISSOURI TO UPHOLD VETO!!!

The Mayor of Kansas City has long been a strong advocate against the 2nd Amendment but this week has seen his disdain for the protection of Missouri gun rights reach new heights.

To wit . . .

MAYOR SLY HAS FINALLY DECLARED HIMSELF A KANSAS CITY GREATEST ENEMY OF THE 2ND AMENDMENT WHILST CALLING HIS OPPONENTS WHO WOULD PROTECT THEIR GUNS STUPID!!!

There has been a lot of great commentary from community news challenging the Mayor on this unpopular stance while mainstream media has politely ignore the divisive issue.

Reading the Mayor in his own words is the most important bit of information we can provide for local voters and residents as one of Kansas City's top elected officials is willing cast freely and openly cast pejorative terms toward his opposition and misrepresent advocates of the 2nd Amendment without question.

Again, what's both shameful and important is that NOBODY in the MSM is willing to challenge his mayor on the topic while we've noted THOUSANDS UPON THOUSANDS of people disagree with this strident anti-gun rhetoric but go unrepresented by local leaders and those who control the legacy media.

Again, read the statement and you decide . . .

From The Kansas City Mayor's Office . . . Doubling Down on Stupid: Overriding the veto of Senate Bill 656

I stood inside the Rose Brooks Center, a tremendous facility in Kansas City. The Rose Brooks Center provides emergency shelter to women and children escaping life-threatening abuse. I cannot adequately express the gratitude that I have for the employees, volunteers and donors of Rose Brooks, because here in Kansas City, as we are seeing group violence go down as a result of the work of KC NoVA, domestic violence, sadly, is on the rise.

I may start to sound like a broken record, but as long as my hands are tied on the issue, I will continue to use my voice to urge lawmakers to use their heads. Rather than looking for solutions to our gun violence problem, our legislature is poised to double down on stupid and override Governor Nixon’s veto of Senate Bill 656.

If you liken our gun violence problem to lung cancer then this bill is the equivalent of lighting up a pack of cigarettes every night. It’s fueling the problem – certainly not making it better. There are several issues with this bill worth noting:

It completely eliminates the need to secure a permit in order to carry a concealed firearm. It also eliminates local sheriffs’ ability to determine who can and cannot carry a concealed weapon. According to a news article from MissouriNet, just last year alone, over 1,700 conceal and carry permits were turned down by sheriffs. There are people out that that local sheriffs KNOW should not be allowed to pack heat. A prime example would be domestic violence offenders. Allowing someone with a record of domestic violence offenses to carry concealed firearms has life and death implications.

But that is only the beginning.

This legislation endangers both our communities and our law enforcement who make every effort to serve & protect.

Today I was joined by several concerned members of the community who wanted to share with you why this is dangerous territory to be treading in. Senate Bill 656 is a crippling piece of legislation that puts the lives of women and children, like the ones who call Rose Brooks home, in further danger. In addition, it doesn’t take into consideration the needs of those on the front lines of ensuring their safety or the safety of any citizen, our law enforcement officers.

This bill would put law enforcement at risk because they would have no way of knowing if someone is carrying a concealed weapon. And so to speak to you more about that, I want to welcome Deputy Police Chief Rose, followed by Jackson County Sheriff Mike Sharp, who will discuss the implications of the bill on law enforcement.

As a father, it’s hard for me to imagine doing something as simple as letting my kids get behind the wheel of a car without having been trained how to operate a vehicle. I don’t know that there are many parents out there who would feel comfortable doing that either. And yet the consequences of this bill allow the a person at least 19 years of age to carry a concealed firearm without any proper training.

So, you need a driver’s license to drive, you have to be 21 to buy liquor and yet, you can carry a concealed weapon at age 19 with zero training. That is ludicrous on its face.

Domestic violence has steadily been on the rise in the State of Missouri. In 2015, Kansas City saw the most dramatic spike in domestic violence related homicides in years. More than 10 percent of the total homicides were the result of domestic violence incidents.

I want to urge the Missouri Legislature to uphold the veto on Senate Bill 656. We have to stop politicizing an issue that has claimed far too many lives. Protecting the integrity of the Second Amendment doesn’t mean that we should readily accept watching our children, friends and neighbors die at the hands of those who likely should not be carrying a gun in the first place.

We have to take a long, hard look at what is happening in our own cities and cities across America. We cannot protect women and children from their abusers if we are making it easier for those abusers to carry a concealed weapon that could end their lives before they receive the protection and social services they need. We cannot continue to put the lives of our law enforcement partners in danger as they seek to serve and protect our community. And we absolutely cannot sit back and watch as lawmakers make it easier for criminals to commit slow motion mass murder in our neighborhoods and our schools.

It’s time to realize that reducing crime in cities takes the help of EVERYONE at the federal, state, and local level. Overturning the veto does nothing to make our neighborhoods or our residents safe. I urge legislators to use common sense on this issue and in doing so, help protect the lives of countless Missourians. And I’ll be watching tomorrow (Wednesday, September 14) to see who votes to support this bill and will be personally inviting them to join me in a ride along with KCPD through the neighborhoods in our city who have been most impacted by gun violence.

I’m willing to do whatever it takes to make lawmakers in Jefferson City realize what they’re doing to us and I urge you to call your lawmakers and ask them how this bill protects our citizens. You can find their contact info HERE.

  1. c'mon now TK.

Let's get it all out in the open.

The mayor wants to run for congress.

That's where he's coming from. This is a ploy to get him right with Hillary Clinton. If she survives the campaign, she's looking for the next Supreme Court judge to eliminate the 2nd Amendment.

  2. How does the Northland feel about this?

A shame that none of the people on the city council are willing to stand up against him.

  3. Seems to me like he doesn't believe women can use guns to defend themselves, that's kind of sexist.

  4. Here is the truth. The majority of the people committing the "gun violence" do not give a damn about gun laws BECAUSE THEY ARE FELONS they didn't buy the guns legally anyway, guns laws are like locks on doors, they keep honest people honest, burglars do not care about locks on doors...they just kick them in...I bet that woman at Walmart is a right to carry supporter now!

  5. Who Hoo, more gun battles in Walmart parking lots!

  6. Just like the original concealed carry legislation this bill will probably make little difference either way in the crime rate. The mayor knows this but he is campaigning for higher office with no concern for the citizens of KCMO. If he did he would be working to improve the KCPD instead of pandering to the Democratic base.

  7. Tony studied journalism at the Faux News School of Hyperbole.

If you're allowed to say that he's attacking the Second Amendment, then he's allowed to say you're stupid, especially since you're being deliberately stupid.

  8. It's time they thought outside the box and addressed the problem of gun violence in the urban core of KC.

It starts at home in the urban core not at the Capitol in Jefferson City.

Why not use your energy and address the "black community" and demand that the mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, daughters and sons turn in the illegal guns their relatives have in their possession?

It's time they looked into their own homes and called out those who are committing the crimes and doing the damage to the extended families and loved ones of those killed by the senseless violence.

How many more murders do you need to have committed in the KC area before you look at the real problem?

It starts at home where they learn to react with violence rather than respond in a reasonable manner to conflicts.

  9. Just look at that photo and tell me this Sly clown doesn't look like a bully gorilla.

As stated already, if these hacks gave a rats ass about domestic violence and women they would make sure charges are filed every time a police officer is involved in domestic violence rather than sweeping the many incidents under the carpet with no legal action whatsoever.

They already know anyone subject to a domestic order or convicted of any crime of domestic violence commits a Federal felony if she is found to be in possession of a firearm. That whole "protect women" line is complete bullshit and Sly knows it.

Criminals do the crime and they will not comply. Law abiding citizens simply get screwed by their own government either because of a complete lack of protection from the government or the refusal of the government to grant them the right to protect their lives, home and family. These libtards are doing nothing good for anyone.

As far as training? Let me tell you something. I have been a competition shooter for decades and if anyone is dangerous with a gun it is half of the officers on the street who can hit the broad side of a fucking barn.

  10. When was the last time Sly took a ride on the East side without a gun?

  11. Gun Control.

Translation= "You white people need to turn in your guns".

(No one, with the brains of a ant thinks that ONE fucking gangbanger will EVER turn in his gun.)

    Fuck off mutherfukker

  12. Hey why are we ignoring the truth around here? Is there some sort of issue with not facing up to the real problem?

When we can't admit black people and their biological shortcomings are the main issue, we humans have a big problem!

The American black needs to be put under tight control or we will continue to see the violence against the dominat society. Integration has failed!

Now you know why we dared defend western civilization from the onslaught of Africans in America.

Kansas City needs to be a city for Europeans and not one where white people had no future.

We will certainly not be giving up.our guns, no. If anything one of our tasks must be to preserve the true history of this era, this for the day when Whites reclaim our civilization.

And Tony can't handle the truth apparently.

  13. ^^^^ That's stupid. Go back to the trailer, there are some good comments here with some great defense of our gun rights. You're comment was better than usual racist garbage but still needs to work. Talk about the issues, not your psychosis. There are a lot of black people who are against gun takeaways and stand up for the constitution. You are missing that, you are blind.

  14. Sly James is a great man and a great mayor, most of you are nameless and faceless cowards. At least Tony signs his posts while the rest of you hide in the dark like roaches.

    I am excited about KC.

I want kc to move forward.

    I am GO FOR KC!

  16. FUCK him and his gun control.
Just another excuse for his leadership failure.

  17. Kansas has governor Brownback and Kansas City has mayor Silverback. He is just doing what his masters tell him to do.

  18. 2:54 You are fucking smoking something if you think Tony signs his posts. Half the libtard insulting bullshit in here is posted by Tony or on of his "special" friends. When that isn't happening he is removing posts to slant the tone of the discussion.

2:52 Why don't you just write all the responses for everyone and then they will suit your tastes just fine and you wont have to bitch and whine to your boyfriend when something doesn't suit you. After all isn't that how libtards view free speech?
