TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY EAST SIDE LEADERS CALL COUNCILMAN JERMAINE REED 'TRAITOR' FOR WALKING OUT ON TAX REFORM ORDINANCE HE CO-SPONSORED!!!

An unexpected delay on an important tax incentive reform ordinance has evoked frustration from many Kansas City 3rd District residents with the quality of their in-district elected representation.

Accordingly . . .

KANSAS CITY EAST SIDE INSIDERS CALL COUNCILMAN JERMAINE REED A TRAITOR FOR WALKING OUT OF AN IMPORTANT VOTE TO REIN IN KANSAS CITY TAX SUBSIDY!!!

Mainstream media reported the two hour debate and wrangling between Councilman Quinton Lucas and Councilman Scott Wagner BUT overlooked a key player in the drama.

Here's the word about how the vote took place behind the scenes:

"Councilman Jermaine Reed -- The traitor who betrayed his co-sponsors on the tax incentive reform ordinance. He skipped out before the vote forcing them to hold it 2 weeks. Eastside leaders and his colleagues (especially the Black caucus) are upset with his flip flop and cop out. They all stood behind him on his wasteful and misguided 18th and Vine funding request but he lacked the fortitude and courage to fight for reform that will help schools, libraries and economic development east of Troost. He has the loyalty of a leech."

More perspective . . .

"Quinton worked months on that reform ordinance and had strong support from white Republican women from the Northland but could not depend on his own in-District colleague when it was time to vote. He was a co-sponsor who did not stay to vote for his own ordinance."

The citywide support for the measure is important and should be noted. . . This was an issue where 3rd District had a chance to collaborate with City Council across the bridge and demonstrate just a bit of fiscal responsibility. Now, insiders blame Councilman Reed for a failure to control the ongoing corporate tax incentive spree that continues to loot money from urban core schools and neighborhoods.

  1. Councilman Reed has never been loyal for that long. He's looking for his next career move and the prospects are bleak.

  2. The problem here is simple: John Sharp wasn't around to tell him what to do!

  3. too late to recall reed?

    Probably.

But he's probably out of office for good now.

  4. Duh? Selfish, self-centered bastard. I don't wish anything good for him.

  5. Should have left Fletcher on the ballot. East side Uncle Tom did his master's bidding getting Fletcher off the ballot and Jermaine is a perfectly effiminate house negro. Good job, boys.

  6. Councilman, we are utterly disappointed in your action or should I say inaction. You are a disgrace to the human race. We've fought too long and hard for pimps like you.

  7. Shared Success is sham anyway it is a resolution, so it is optional.

  8. Reed knows who butters his bread, and it's not his homies.

  9. Its pretty clear that these "EAST SIDE INSIDERS" are Clinton Adams, his sister, and their groupies. So Jermaine has to ask himself what this little group will do for him down the road. The answer is nothing. Clinton would sink a long, sharp knife in your back while smiling and giving you a big man hug.

Pick your friends wisely Jermaine; I guarantee you that Clinton is no friend.

Vote your conscious, yea or nay, but don't do it for anyone on the East Side. You are already yesterday's news to them.

  10. The councilman isn't beholden to Clinton Adams, et. al, but he is beholden to improving the city and his district. He didn't vote his conscious - he cowered out. There's a difference.

  11. ^^Wrong. Dead wrong. First, Reed could care less about the third district. As a welfare recipient he has lived all over this city. He has no commitment to anything including the Third District. His voter base is a bunch of black regressive retards. Every time he runs, he gets fewer, and fewer votes. The negro is a leach and that is much different than being committed to his community.

  12. I had long been critical of Reed & had just began to soften my stance on him when he goes & pull this. Lucas stood up in that meeting & made it clear, simply vote yes or no. Do not hide behind "holds" or any other obfuscation. At least the other 12 members went on the record. Reed is just coward. Unbelievable.

  13. Mr. Reed will be remembered for this one act for a long time. Long time.

Wasn't Clinton Adams the guy that kept Fletcher off the ballot? I guess he has buyer's remorse. Of course, Fletcher, while entertaining, would be a total disaster. KCMO proper would properly be burning right now had he won the seat.

  20. Reed has one heck of a legacy. I don't think ANYONE is happy with his tenure. One of the worst council people we've ever had.

  21. You had to know that mr. Reed was not a trustworthy person because he worked with Alvin Brooks over at adhoc. Alvin Brooks is one of the biggest Crooks in Kansas City Missouri. Alvin Brooks has covered up more police corruption over there at adhoc than you could ever imagine and anybody that worked at adhoc with mr. Brooks did the same. Anybody that works with or underneath mr. Brooks is just as corrupt as he is period Point Blank. If you ask me the majority of the African American community leaders are corrupt from the mayor to the chief of police to the director of community complaints office. The black attorneys here in Kansas City will sell their clients out . The black state representatives and Council men and women most of the time will not address the real issues of the community and the city. I have never seen so many sell out black folks in my entire life. And for the record I'm not white I'm black and just keeping it real

  23. Somebody needs to tell Jermaine that he is not destined for any job, position or career in Washington, DC. Once he finishes this term, he will be just like Terry Riley. Terry who? Exactly.

  24. He got a case of the hots.
