TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY TOURISTS DISAPPOINTED WITH BORING BUS RIDES WHEN TOY TRAIN STREETCAR REPEATEDLY BREAKS DOWN!!!

Kansas City tourism officials claim that our quiet little cowtown hosts 24 million visitors every year and right now our blog community considers word back from more than a few of these folks who have expressed disappointment with the unreliable toy train streetcar line which has ruined their visit.

To wit . . .

TRENDING IN KANSAS CITY: WHEN THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR BREAKS DOWN (WHICH IS OFTEN) TOURISTS ARE BUMMED BECAUSE THEY HAVE TO TAKE THE BUS INSTEAD!!!

One bit of testimony out of many . . .

"Your streetcar line doesn't work Tony. Hate to say it but my visit to KC was completely ruined when my sister, who lives out of town, and I planned our trip at Crown Center, walked to Union Station and spent 20 minutes waiting for the streetcar that was just sitting there inactive. A bus finally came along and we were able to ride for free on the same route but it was really disappointing because we planned to spend the afternoon on the streetcar. I might have time later this year before it gets cold to go again but I really hope it becomes more reliable because I don't visit Downtown often and the streetcar was the whole reason for the trip. I can take the bus any time."

On the bright side, streetcar supporters should be thankful that their transit is at least working to attract an occasional tourist.

But really . . .

TOY TRAIN BREAKDOWNS ARE BECOMING SO COMMONPLACE THAT MSM HAS STOPPED REPORTING THE OUTAGES AS THE MUCH MORE RELIABLE BUS WORKS TO MAINTAIN THE TOY TRAIN LINE!!!

Either way, our blog community is looking toward the future as more ride-sharing options and self-driving buses are soon to be the new hotness.

Mashable recently notes why the streetcar will soon be obsolete: Get on board: Australia has just launched its first driverless bus

New York Times: Alphabet Expands Car-Pooling Project, Casting Shadow on Uber

The tragic part of this equation is that streetcar advocates earn media accolades with their rigged ridership numbers whilst an accurate count of breakdowns and outages in not maintained or shared with the public but will hopefully see the light of day after our TKC EXCLUSIVE SATURDAY JOURNALISM DOWNTOWN STREETCAR BREAKDOWN EXPOSÉ . . .

  1. a bit of work here Tk and this "report" will be complete.

Go look up the record of the CAF Urbos. They are plagued by constant breakdowns and our team that visited Spain should have reported as much.

There was some testimony on this but it was completely quieted.

The bottom line is, the break downs are now part of life in KC.

  2. Why should streetcar riders get a free bus ride too?

I have to pay when I get on the bus. The same standard should apply!

  3. The streetcar was his whole reason for the trip to KC? Wow. Hopefully he knows what a vagina feels like. Doubtful though.

  4. Now that is the saddest "how I spent my summer vacation" story ever.

Just lucky they were not on it when the earthquake struck--if those doors jammed, and they certainly could during a future earthquake tremor, they'd have been on the toy train to nowhere, like sad starving and thirsty clowns, looking out the locked windows at our dying restaurants.

Note to self: bring food and water before boarding the Toy Train to Nowhere.
Or maybe the ATA could have a little glass box on board, like they do for fire extinquishers. Break glass for sustenance. But not if you are homeless...then just get off at the next stop and go to the Libarry.

  5. I agree with 12:55. The only reason that guy makes a trip to the big city is to ride a street car to nowhere for a minute?

    ReplyDelete
  6. They say there's no such thing as a free ride. Well Sly and the crew proved that wrong. If you live out of town it's a free ride. If you live in Kansas Mo. you pay for it one way or another.

So when Elmer Fudd comes up from the farm to ride the short choo choo, you residents are paying for the ole farmers good time.

  8. Blame it on the earthquake.

  9. Wow Tony, if you had some actual statistics - dates, times, frequency, etc. - and were able to provide a breakdown and causes of the actual number of incidents you might be on to something!

    But no.

Therefore, your anecdotal evidence merely adds up to more useless whining.

  10. Toot toot. Rumble. Clunk.

  11. 2:32 is right, how dare TKC question anything about the streetcar. In fact, it's proof that we need to sink millions more into it, until all the bugs are worked out - that strategy has worked so well for the Jazz District.

    1. If he had proof that would be different.

      He doesn't.

    2. So, let's see the detailed information that backs up Tony's statement that TOY TRAIN BREAKDOWNS ARE BECOMING SO COMMONPLACE THAT MSM HAS STOPPED REPORTING THE OUTAGES.

Of course this information doesn't exist, it's merely one of a hundred unverifiable accusations about the streetcar that of course none of you sheep will ever question...why do you let him get away with it?

      Where's the information?

      It doesn't exist, does it?

      More useless whining.

      But do go on.

  14. I doubt if anyone in New Jersey travels to New York to take a subway and then takes a dumbass selfie. Only in Kansas City do they think it's a novelty to ride a bus on rails.

  15. Not a surprising post from a known hater of the metro area who has been sued and lost because of libel and slander.

  16. Ok so how did this guy from out of town know to email tkc about his streetcar trouble? I think the story is bs

    ReplyDelete
  17. Proving what you say is so un-Tony.

What with WHEELS FALLING OFF THE STREETCAR DAILY AND PEOPLE LOSING HANDS WHEN THE DOORS SHUT AND THE COVER UP OF A CHILD BEING DECAPITATED!

All true! But I need not prove it.

  18. Yet 5:35 still hangs out here.

  19. Gotta love the ToyTrain cheerleaders dragging out the ONE AND ONLY case where TKC decided it was better to back off than risk possible big bucks by going to court.

How many years ago was that?

Too bad they don't hold the KC Star, local TV news, and themselves to the same standard!! HYPOCRITES!!

Ok, back to the defective, prone-to-breakdowns ToyTrain, what will happen when KC gets our usual Winter snow and ice? Ice on overhead power lines, snow/ice/salt down in the rail bed?

  20. Think that he is a white man or a black man. ?

  21. Why do tourist from out of town get to ride the bus for free? Locals have to pay to ride the bus.

    ReplyDelete
  22. It is way past time to start charging the tourist for a streetcar ride. If it costs $40 to park at tax payer supported Arrowhead Stadium, $20 for a trolley ride seems appropriate.

The streetcar is KC has a problem but it looks like there are a lot of people who don't want to admit it.

  25. oh well I impressed! 120 days, 9,640 trips and you found FIVE examples! Wow that's really commonplace!!! That's almost 0.06%!!! Really common!!! Happens all the time, sounds like!!!

    hahahahahaha

good job. You proved THEIR point, not yours.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Didn't they have to tow the damn thing? Was that in the budget?

    ReplyDelete
  27. Interesting that when the streetcar breaks down we rely on buses to substitute for them.

    ReplyDelete
  28. not really
