Craig Glazer: The Great Debate Tonight. America Divided.
Will tonight's presidential debate decide the election? Polls have Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in a dead heat. A tie with voters today. America wants a change, will it be Donald Trump.
Last June Donald Trump was to many a joke as far as really becoming president of the United States. By late summer he was the Republican Nominee for that high office. Just a month ago Hillary Clinton was leading by double digits over Trump, many saw this upcoming election as a landslide for Hillary. Oh how things have changed my friends and fellow Americans.
The early fall momentum has switched to Trump. He has a new campaign manager that finally got him to stop attacking his opponents. Donald became more clear on his plan to 'Make America Great Again.' In the meantime Hillary has been under constant attack on her emails, her missing emails, her health and her strange absence from interviews and press in general. Her message is stay the course all is well. Trump says its not. The constant violence with race relations and terror attacks on our home turf have only made the law and order man make a huge comeback.
Maybe the most telling event this week was Ted Cruz, who hated and likely still dislikes Donald Trump, coming on board and supporting the Donald! Why? One reason, his fear that Donald Trump will now win the election and he'd be at odds with the new president.
Hillary Clinton has another big problem. She really doesn't say anything new, other than how terrible a person Trump is and how he can't be the leader of the free world. She has 25 years of public life and America feels they know her well. Clinton is not charismatic, Trump is or can be just that. Donald is the change. But can we trust him? The answer is we just do not know. Will America gamble on the billionaire, reality show star?
One big problem for Clinton is simple, Trump has no real political record to attack, she does and boy does she.Tonight Trump will attempt to do just that, attack her and her record. She will attack his lack of experience, his mis steps and comments that often show a lack of knowledge in world affairs.
When Jimmy Carter faced off against Ronald Reagan back in the 80's election and debate over 80 million watched. Tonight they are expecting nearly 100 million viewers.
Will Trump stay the course, will he go off message, will he say offensive things? We will soon find out. Will Hillary become more likable and show the nation she is the calm steady hand needed to guide the nation forward in these always troubled times.
If the election were held today its likely Hillary Clinton would win a close race. After tonight that may change. Never before in the 'media' age of presidential elections has there been so many eyes on the tube and social media for such an event. The answer is coming and to be honest nobody is quite sure what the hell will happen. I'm sure we will all stayed tuned to find out!

ReplyDeleteI saw it more or less as even myself. Neither one really brought anything new to the table. But I did like Donalds comments about Hillary having 30 years to do something which to me is a valid point since she has been in the game that long and has made no attempts to do any of that she claims she will do if elected. So to me that was more of the say what the people want to hear over what she will really do.

ReplyDeleteNice lead into the debate. Watched it, nobody won or lost, but Trump showed he ain't batshit crazy and that was a victory in and of itself.
