Apparently, locals would like to turn police into glorified security guards monitored by body cameras rather than get rid of blighting weeds . . . Just one of the many insights at these meetings under the guise of voter participation led by City Hall and following their agenda . . .

For those who have images turned off . . . That graphic notes that more residents (attending these budget sessions) would rather have police body cameras (touted in the aftermath of Ferguson racial rioting uprising unrest) than funds for mowing in medians . . .

I love how the city pitches the idea of this vs. that. We should have BOTH! Stop wasting money on the toy train, new airport, endless TIF handouts, and needless consulting contracts. Jesus-fucking-Christ!

ReplyDeleteWhat so many of the clueless proponents of police body cameras don't understand is that the vast majority of recorded interactions between the police and residents will show how uncivilized and terrible much of the behavior the police try to put up with actually is.
ReplyDeleteThe"he said, she said" will be gone, and so will the weeping and wailing about the thug turning his life around, as will the claim that no one saw anything that came down.
The next protests are going to be that the police released videos to the media and that unfairly affected the perp's legal case, exactly the OPPOSITE effect that most of these body camera proponents expect.
Unforeseen consequences.
But at least still something to march and protest about.
And, apparently, anything beats talking about the real problem of irresponsible, counter-productive, self-destructive, and even criminal behavior.
