TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! KANSAS CITY FREEDOM, INC. INSIDER: BYE, BYE BONNAYE!!!

Tonight we should note an important urban core outcome as Kansas City political advocacy powerhouse Freedom, Inc. strengthens their position that now extends all the way to the Southland.

Moreover . . .

Freedom, Inc. celebrates a BLOWOUT VICTORY against longtime rival Bonnaye Moms who was defeated last night by Richard Brown by a margin of 65.04% vs. 34.96%.

Insiders call the former Missouri Rep. "treacherous" and say that she paid the political price for "backstabbing and ineffectiveness."

You decide . . .

Comments

  1. Freedom is the most clown ass political organization in KC, basically running a racket fooling scare old white people into payola. Nobody in the hood give a fuck what that Uncle Tom Clinton and his puppets be saying.

  2. Bonnaye is good people.

But she lost fair and square.

  3. Freedom Inc. is still a malignant tumor on the eastside invading every healthy cell it can find. Maybe people dislike Bonnaye but I'd argue the disdain for Freedom Inc. is much greater in Kansas City's eastside. Only stupid White people and half-dead seniors (still hanging on to yesterday) believe in that motley crew. I'll be glad when the people discover an effective and potent course action to permanently destroy the cancerous tumor.

  4. Craig and Rodney Bland were seen taking ballots inside the voting polls. Photos are circulating on social media of Craig Bland and Fox Town neighborhood president M.Henry balling up ballots and taking them inside at Southeast community center. Freedom ballots was laying inside by polls. They stole the election look at the numbers, they don't add up.

  5. The real story is that Bonnaye Mims was a member of the Hickman Mills School Board. Clinton Adams, the ex-officio member of Freedom had a lot of contracts with the KC School Board but they cut him off. He went to Bonnaye and tried to strong arm her to get contracts from her school district. She said no. Freedom tried to run someone against her last time and she won. Since she said no to corruption, they did it again. This time they won. But Bonnaye kept her ethics and her integrity. The Missouri General Assembly is a worse place for KC without her down there. Freedom Inc should be ashamed but they are crooks anyway.

  6. I thought Clinton Adams and his brother Gwen Grant were dead.

  7. John Sharp, financed Richard Brown's campaign. Sharp, was the one this time that wanted Mims out as a personal vendetta.

  8. The voters spoke. How many of the names mentioned are voters in the district? The election results tell the story.

    1. I'm a voter in the district and the election results tell who one, but they don't tell the story or how the people won or lost. It wouldn't be the first time in history that a election was stolen either.

  9. @theEditor. I'm one of the half-dead seniors you mentioned. I was once one of Freedom Inc's biggest supporters until I saw firsthand what they did to the eastside and KCSD. It made me sick seeing local businesses and schools crumbling while Clinton and the Blands screamed black unity and lined their pockets. Truth be told almost everybody at Freedom has had a tie to Bonnaye at some point and she was their biggest rival. There was many sleepless nights phone calls and meetings for years solely for the purpose of figuring out ways to take Mims down. I also disliked her and it was mostly because of what I heard and not nothing personal. It was only after I noticed the trend of people like Darrell Curls, DaRon McGee and others who once was so friendly with Bonnaye accepting Freedom endorsements and campaign funding in exchange for helping go after Mims. John Sharp joined the bandwagon after being upset that Bonnaye wouldnt go along with his transparent moves that would clearly benefit Freedom. I was no longer on board after seeing the dirty tactics they used against her in 2014 and I actually voted for Bonnaye this time out. She was the single toughest opposition of color Freedom has ever had and she never backed down. She just ran out friends because they all cashed in integrity and decency for cash and political seats. I hope she runs again but chooses better company next time. She will need real folks in her corner to go against Freedom again and win. KC is doomed with the cancerous tumor of Freedom Inc picking up momentum. We need more people like Bonnaye out here.

  10. Most everybody is missing the point. Bonnaye Mims wasn't defeated by Freedom, Inc., or any other political group. She was defeated by the voters of her district by over a 1,000-vote margin -- 2,234 to 1,201. She lost in every part of her district, including the area by Wornall Road and in Raytown where she lives, not exactly Freedom strongholds. She lost to a political newcomer who's been a longtime Kansas City teacher and head of his neighborhood association, but who never ran for office before. And she lost overwhelmingly despite outspending her opponent about 10 to 1, having a ton of campaign money from special interests and a small army of paid campaign workers at the polls. But her opponent had one advantage she didn't -- a pair of worn out shoes at the end of the campaign since he said he personally knocked on every door in the district. He just outworked her and convinced voters he could represent them better. It's good to see that kind of grassroots campaign succeed.

  11. No campaign associated with Freedom Inc can be considered "grassroots". Everything they touch turns to poop and every campaign they have ever been behind was dirty. I see you drank the kool aid. Most of Richard Brown's votes were sympathy votes because he mostly ran on being a teacher having a rough time with his ailing wife. He didn't out work anyone, he tugged at human hearts. He did so masterfully while Freedom and Sharp created the fabrication about Mims taking money from special interest groups. It's the same dirty tactics they used in 2013 with the crooked mailers that landed Freedom Inc under investigation. Bonnaye Mims might have been disliked but disdain for Freedom Inc is in a completely different league. The votes don't even add up but the election is over. The people actually lost this one.

  12. The real criminal in South KC is John Sharp. Two faced and self serving. Bonnaye was clearly the better candidate but John Sharp has invited Freedom Inc into South KC to destroy it, with the promise of a payday and/or a cushy consultant role with their organization. Freedom wants to try to pimp Cerner but they need a white face to do it. Enter John Sharp. He has totally sold out South KC and I hope one day soon he pays for it. Bonnaye was his sacarificial lamb to Freedom Inc. Despicable.

  13. @ 9:20 That South Kansas City Alliance group is already turning into Freedom Inc South. I had high hopes for that group but I see their board and their political PAC board are made up of Freedom Inc loyalist. Plenty of good candidates in that area, but if they don't bow to Freedom Inc, they can't participate in the process.

  14. Freedom Inc has done nothing positive or empowering for the people of KC, especially our black brothers and sisters that they only seem to care about on election day. They are full of crooks and con artists who care about nothing but greed and power. They have history of bullying people and draining money out of every part of the area they have touched. It's sad that John Sharp has pretty much traded in his balls to become the Clinton Adams of South KC. I pity the members of our community that are too lazy to inform themselves about local politics and take the easy route of picking up a Freedom ballot then voting for any name on it. Bonnaye Mims was and is one of the few people who never backed down from them. They managed to either recruit, intimidate or scare off all other African American opposition. For nearly a decade they have tried everything to run off Bonnaye Mims. This includes each time they ran phony mailers, were caught stealing her signs, dumping garbage in the yards of her biggest supporters, and putting opponent after opponent against her.
Clinton Adams and his goon squad tried muscling into the Hickman Mills school district after sucking the life out of the Kansas City school district, and Mims stood tall against their corruption. Former city councilman John Sharp hid behind Mims and a few other black people fighting against the crooks at Freedom Inc. When Freedom lost, Sharp would act like it was his victory among people in South Kansas City, but act neutral when in "Freedom Inc territory". Between that and Mims not being intimidated by Freedom Inc, the once budding friendship between John Sharp and Bonnaye Mims became strained. Since no longer serving on the council John Sharp aligned himself with Freedom Inc and made it part of his mission to go after Mims, and the area will suffer greatly for his personal vendetta.
It was a crooked campaign by Brown using his cancer stricken wife as a crutch, but he gets due credit for doing plenty of legwork that Mims couldn't do as an incumbent. All of Mims former opponents and friends were out working for Freedom, and it was pretty much an against all odds battle. I honestly felt she could have won if she weren't fighting them all on her own. She fought valiantly for years and maintained her integrity, she should not be ashamed by this one loss. No one wins all of the wars. Like @4:35 said, the people are the ones who really lose on this one.

  15. Reading all the "sour grapes" comments by supporters of Bonnaye Mims and folks who hate Freedom,Inc.,is like entering another dimension devoid of reality where Ms. Mims lost her reelection bid because all these forces of evil ganged up on her. Let's go back to reality.
    1. Ms. Mims was a 4-year incumbent running against a political unknown, Richard Brown, who was running for public office for the first time. She had a huge advantage in money. Go to the Missouri Ethics Commission website like I did and look at their campaign finance reports filed 8 days before the election. Brown had only taken in $7,110. Mims had received $62,357.02, nearly 9 times as much. Incumbents with that kind of fundraising advantage almost never lose unless they've been scandalized or have really lost touch with their constituents.
    2. Ms. Mims' defeat was a landslide. Brown beat her almost 2 to 1. She got less than 35% of the vote, and lost every polling place except 2 small ones that she carried by 2 votes each. Check the results like I did on the Kansas City Election Board website. When an incumbent loses that badly, voters are sending a clear message they are dissatisfied.
    3. Freedom, Inc., was by far not the only influential organization that supported Brown over Mims. The Kansas City Star recommended Brown, noting Mims' excessive absences on votes in the Missouri House. The Kansas City Globe newspaper ran a front page endorsement of Brown. Southland Progress headed by Lisa Pelofsky, former president of the Board of Police Commissioners, also endorsed Brown, as did several influential ministers such as Pastor Ron Lindsay.
    4. Ms. Mims acceptance of numerous gifts from lobbyists was a major campaign issue. You can go to the Missouri Ethics Commission website and see for yourself. In her 4 years in the Missouri House, the Ethics Commission reported she accepted $5,149.27 in lobbyist gifts.
    5. Brown told me right before the election that he had knocked on the door of every voter in the district. By then he had lost so much weight he hardly looked like his picture in his campaign literature, so I believe him. Nobody I talked to said Ms. Mims had come by their door, although some neighbors said her campaign literature was stuck in their doors when they were at home.
    6. Brown stressed the important issues people care about in his campaign -- expanding healthcare coverage to all Missourians, adequately funding our public schools, reducing gun violence, ending predatory lending and protecting our right to vote.
We should thank Ms. Mims for her service even if we disagree with some of her actions, but let's give Richard Brown a fair chance. He may be a real improvement.

    1. @ 2:28 Preach on councilman Sharp! You said those exact words to me before I voted last Tuesday. No one knows Ms Mims better than you. Councilman Sharp showed me the Missouri Ethics Commission website stuff and it didn't say anything about lobbyists but it was a lot of money floating around. So what if Freedom has a reputation for being crooked. What politician or political group doesn't? Sour grapes won't change anything. Brown came to my house 3 times, councilman Sharp came once, and I didn't see Mims once. She did great bringing jobs out to South KCMO with Cerner and the healthcare stuff. Let's give Richard Brown a shot and see what he does now.

Children! Children! Settle down!! You are behaving like school girls arguing over a guy that is dating someone else. Stop it!!!

Throughout all of the bickering and debating you all seem to have lost sight of the most important fact. ALL politicians are liars. That's why we elect them! We pick the person who lies best and manages to convince us of their agenda being better than the others. It has been that way from the beginning of time!

Is Mims a liar? Of course she is. She's a politician- based on her longevity she is a damned good one.

Is Brown a liar? Of course he is. He's a politician also, and may have the same longevity-Only time will tell. He has his opportunity.

Anyone with a brain and whom has been in Kansas City long enough knows that Freedom Inc fit a plethora of descriptive terms-including being liars. They have been pulling the wool over people's eyes for decades. If they want to celebrate and take credit for Browns' victory? Let them! The election is over. The people have spoken and chosen the better liar. Let Mims keep going, let Brown enjoy his win, and let Freedom have their hurrah.
