TKC QUESTION: SHOULD SCHLITTERBAHN RECORD BREAKING WATER SLIDE VERRÜCKT BE PERMANENTLY SHUT DOWN AFTER KANSAS REP. SCOTT SCHWAB'S SON REPORTEDLY DECAPITATED?!?

It's a matter of fact that there's some gruesome Internets eye-witnesss deets out there that the poor kid was decapitated amid his fatal fall . . . But authorities have yet to confirm many deets.

Here's the best fair-use news round-up . . .

The child who died was the oldest son of Kansas Rep. Scott Schwab, R-Olathe. Many lawmakers were at Schlitterbahn for Elected Official Day. An email from Speaker Ray Merrick's office went out to state legislators sometime this afternoon.

The accident occurred before 2:50 p.m. The park was closed a little after 3 p.m.

Here is the park's official statement:

"We are saddened to share that a young boy died on Verrückt this afternoon. Given that safety is our first priority we have closed our Kansas City park and have closed the ride pending a full investigation. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family during this difficult time."

The park was closed for the remainder of the day and will be closed Monday as well.

Verrückt, which is German for insane, plunges 17 stories. Before opening in 2014, design problems repeatedly pushed back the launch.

UPDATE . . . FOX4 NEWS CONFIRMATION of the decapitation report . . .

More importantly for future safety of all Kansas City tourists . . .

SHOULD KANSAS CITY, KANSAS PERMANENTLY SHUT DOWN THE WORLD'S LARGEST WATER SLIDE AFTER TODAY'S TRAGEDY?!?!

You decide . . .

Therefore your ignorant post, and any thoughts you may have on the matter, are irrelevant.

    2. Don't blame a 10 year old? If his parents felt he was responsible to go ride rides alone, then yes he's to blame IF he didn't follow instructions. Of course they won't release the truth because if it was the Parks error, they're going to be in a shit ton of trouble.

  17. Nothing should be shut down permanently and the drama needs to stop until the investigation is complete. Jesus fucking Christ there are more of you herkiners killing people driving and texting than have ever died in the history of amusement parks. Should we permanently shut down mobile communications because of it?

  18. sad, sad stuff, but, gotta agree with 8:12 & 8:37.

  19. Leave it open.

Put some token safety measures in place like they did with the Timber Wolf after the girl died from riding it back in the 90s.

I'm sure 'bahn will settle if it looks like it could have even remotely been their fault.

Keep it open because from here on out it's guaranteed it will now be one of the safest water slides in the world due to how closely everyone will be watching it.

  20. Shut the slide down for sure bit the rest of the water park is now in jeapordy.

  23. As someone who hasn't ridden the Verruckt, can anyone explain how it's even possible to become decapitated or "split in two" as someone else described it?

Is there an overhead wire that could decapitate a child who went airborne after the initial drop?

Prior to opening, I remember they were sending dummies of different weight down the slide to test safety, and ended up changing the slide angle between the initial drop and the end of the ride.

    2. That's not what happened at all. It's impossible to stand up on a ride with that kind of force moving at that speed. He wasn't split in half. Idiot

  24. I can tell you one of Schlitterbahn's problems right off the bat was that they employed blacks in the first place.

They wanted me to entrust my safety to some subhuman feral whose IQ is half of mine? No way!

I saw a bootlip working there, turned around and left. Never went back.

We have to lower OUR standards and "slow down the hiring process" to include the eternally-less qualified blacks? And blacks will have felony records, low credit scores, charges of embezzlement and fraud, or a history of firings.

Now they're going to pay for that mistake.

  26. That ride is safer than driving on I-70. Employees insure everyone is security strapped in before the raft takes off. Either there was a mechanical failure of the harness or I don’t want to blame the victim, but…

  29. It's a shame that Brownback or Kobach weren't decapitated, but maybe next time.

Well, somewhere else, because this shithole is going to be permanently closed. The home corporation was already having financial difficulties and only recently paid half a million dollars in bills long overdue to vendors at a Texas location. They will not bounce back from this and the lawsuit will cost them everything and then some. Sadly, the Disney alligator victim family decided not to sue, but a Republican lawmaker with a last name of Schwab? Like there's a chance in hell he won't sue.

Here's all I've been able to gather:

Velcro straps may have come undone, reportedly previous riders had complained about them. That alone puts the park completely liable.

There was a gap in the netting, where the netting reappears the child was cut in half/decapiated (depending on actual release) initial texts to KCPD personnel mentioned decapitation, according to Reddit users in the loop)

It is not known if spoiled brat type entitled privilege was used by parents at this time to get around age (14, certainly not 10) and height requirements. Even so, that wouldn't excuse safety rules being overridden and park is still liable.

There is no possible defense these asshole park owners who built this piece of shit which had numerous problems at all stages of construction and preopening can use to even hope to hold on to their company.

Good. Fuck those asshole piece of shit owners!

  31. Gotta love the local media. Ten minutes ago nine news was crying about this accident and then they turn around and run a spot for Oceans of Fun super slide showing some kid doing 40 miles and hour flying down the thing. As soon as the spot is over they come back selling their follow up coverage on the kid getting killed on the slide in Kansas. Fucking Sara Smith needs to shut her pie hole and pay attention to the nads some people have in her own shop.

  35. Somehow, some way some dumbass white person dies from a wayer-related injury: drowning, diving, and now water slides. What will they think of next? There are easier ways to scam the insurance industry than killing your kids with wat er. Give it a rest.

  36. Exhaustively investigate it and study it, and make whatever changes are necessary to ensure nothing like this can ever happen again. It's been open for more than two years with no serious incident until now, so there must have been some irregular condition for this to happen.

    ReplyDelete
  37. "pray for them?" Yeah, that delivers results. The same god that let their child get killed on an amusement ride will also comfort them? Really sounds like the god I want to pray to.

  38. The Lord works in mysterious ways.

Also, the Lord is a (non existent) fucking murderous genocidal piece of shit asshole. Read your BiBull. As Penn Gilette says, "nothing will turn you into an atheist faster than reading the fucking Bible."

Also that dipshit with the studies on race IQ probably got those so called studies from the same flawed Harvard study type bullshit that determines society works best when one person has 98% of the resources or gold. Fuck you you racist fucking moron piece of dogshit.

    ReplyDelete
  39. We don't know of course and may not for some time. However, there are some interesting parameters to this story. One is the father voted against safety regulations of this type and also cut the budget for safety inspections.

Given that, it's not unusual to believe that the three people in the sled were the father, mother and 10 year old son, particularly since its family day. It's really doubtful they combine to equal 400 pounds, the minimum requirement. But he's a VIP, doesn't believe anything bad can happen, blah blah blah and insists they be able to ride as a family.

Combine that with the Velcro straps possibly wearing and malfunctioning and the kid rises up at the most inopportune time possible right between the gap in the netting, although it would have no difference if the netting had no gap. The piece of shit slide should never have been built and the creator is an incompetent engineer who has barely thus far been able to keep within the laws of physic after numerous stops and starts. Until today when his entire career is now full stop.

It's entirely possible that in addition to the inevitable lawsuits - even if the above scenario is true, it is still the responsibility of the park to deny any special requests that compromise safety - criminal charges are also going to be on the table.

  40. I really don't have an opinion on this tragedy. But, that said, when I read the words, "Velcro Straps", I thought, that Lawyers eating breakfast from Lee's Summit to Los Angeles were on the phone before they put Ketchup on their Hash Browns.

  46. Sad for the kid. No reason to feel sorry for the parents. They're Kansas republicans. It's not like they are real human beings. Seems like karma with all the pain and suffering they have caused for the disabled and elderly in Kansas. If they are able to feel any emotion at the loss of their child they deserve every moment of misery life can bring them.

'he's a VIP, doesn't believe anything bad can happen, blah blah blah and insists they be able to ride as a family."

I rode this thing twice in a row because the family didn't make weight.....they didn't make exceptions. They check you are in tight every time, tugging and refastening. I've been on it every year multiple times since its opening.
Just something doesn't seem right here. SOMETHING weird had to have happened. Not blaming anyone, just not normal every day ridership safety going on here.
Praying for the family today, and for Schlitterbahn employees. I can't imagine being the guy who pushed the button.

    ReplyDelete
  48. Black or white, we all bleed red! And guess what, we all have the same bone color too, which means we're all equal, imagine that! Who cares about color, race, background, etc. You become what you make of yourself. Nobody ever said life was easy, so bust your ass to provide for your family and make them happy.

As for the person who commented on the kid standing up on the ride and cut in half, how the hell does he do that unless he's airborne?! Which could have been from the velcro straps. But, you would think with a ride this intense they would put a harness buckle restraint instead of Velcro. Just common sense to me for any ride being that steep. I'm lucky to get the velcro to last long enough on my b/p cuffs at work, the park can do better than that.
