PREPARE FOR KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN STREETCAR PART DEUX PRICE SPIKE!!!

Here's some number crunching on the next phase of the toy train streetcar that has yet to create many new permanent jobs or pay off it's downtown debt and higher taxes.

Take a look:

The Ballooning Cost of Streetcars

Money line . . .

"The projected construction costs for the extension are estimated at $227M (in 2019 dollars), and the downtown line cost $102M (in 2014 dollars) to build. After adjusting for inflation, on a per-mile basis, that makes Kansas City’s proposed expansion one of the most expensive streetcar projects in the nation . . . The cost per mile of the proposed expansion is over 20% greater than that of the downtown starter line . . ."

Meanwhile, despite the high price locals seem far more concerned with the secret ballot gerrymandering effort to deny a city vote on a mode of transit that has STOLEN cash from the bus system and other civic priorities.

Common sense is now an endangered species. Stupidity has taken over the world and unfortunately there is no known cure.

  3. Other cities have gotten federal grants to cover a significant amount of the construction cost. How much are the feds chipping in for the proposed expansion? Surely David Johnson applied. Guess the feds didn’t like the expansion idea any better than the citizens of KCMO.

  4. Without a federal grant it cannot be expanded. The financing scheme is assuming and relying on 50% of the money coming from Washington. Ain't gonna happen with our next Prez, whether Shrillary or Trump.
Streetcars are a fave toy of Barry and his transpo bud Foxx.

  7. Show-Me "Facts". Bwahaha. Like when they tried to say downtown property values are DOWN, meanwhile the fans cube building on the streetcar line just sold for a 2 million dollar profit over what it was bought for less than a year ago and downtown command the highest rents per square foot in the ENTIRE metro. Or when their earlier lie that the KC streetcar was THE MOAST EXPERNSIVE THANG EVAR!! Was quickly and easily proved to be more Show ME fuzzy math. There's a reason their blog get even less hits than this 4chan knockoff.

  8. And yet here you are yet again, trolley boy. Coffeyville must be so proud. And so relieved that you're here and not there.

  9. Look closely suckers!!! The expansion proposal has $10 million for utility relocation. We have documented $25 - $50 million for the 4 miles downtown. That means the 8 mile extension's cost will run $50 - 100 million alone. They are misleading the public big time!!!

  10. "Documented" Hahahahaha. Keep trying Coffey.
