Captain Melton’s sister-in-law, Lynn Melton, was the first member of her family to speak publicly since he was shot and killed last month attempting to stop a shooting suspect.
“The support from the police, firefighters and community has just been unbelievable,” she said at the commission meeting.
But the thank yous ended there. With Captain Melton's brother, her husband, at her side she then told Mayor Mark Holland she had a question. How could he say what he said?
“Less than 24 hours after Captain Melton’s death to a grieving family of both blood and blue and to the entire community and I quote, 'In the two months between our officers deaths our nation has seen the loss of innocent lives at the hands of police.'” Melton read.

ReplyDeleteFace it, all cops are not saints some are criminals with a badge....all citizens are not law- abiding..some are criminals. Police unions need to stop this notion that everyone wearing a badge is "Officer Friendly"...That simply is not the case. Most law enforcement officers try to do the right thing and uphold their oath to the public that pays their salaries. Some don't. Unions need to weed them out and stop defending bad cops.

Those are for private discussions, but but he allows his slanderous comments about the PD to stand. What a putz. The only reason he stays in office is because he and the Star are owned by the same people.
