Golden Ghetto Good Life After Kansas City Dead Tree Media For Kevin Collison?!?!

Hoping that he kept his job @ Burns & Mac and is just moonlighting rather than spending the remainder of his career cold calling Prairie Village restaurants for ad money. Still, the journalistic life is an addiction and this honorable work is much better than all of the other old school newspaper dudes who sit around and complain about TKC while wondering why their blog isn't as popular. Kudos to the SM Post which is probably the new JoCo paper of record . . . Right after the Shawnee Dispatch or something: Please welcome Kevin Collison to the Shawnee Mission Post! - Shawnee Mission Post - Neighborhood news and events for northeast Johnson County

  2. I love the Shawnee Mission Post. And their new sister online paper, the Blue Valley Post. Great guys. They do the reporting, take the photos, etc. And post promptly at noon, just like a farmer's lunch hour. Tho never criticizing any elected officials or any developers or advertisers. (So Collison, being a complete butt kisser when he was at the STAR, including the Power & Light) will fit in perfectly there.

Then I am free to tee off on some of their stories, including King Louie, Metcalf South, Mission Mall, Meadowbrook, etc, on my opinion and satire blog, with the far better and more apt name, www.JoCoPost.com.

As for the Shawnee Dispatch, it remains the only hard copy newspaper in Johnson County. Now Tony might not have realized this, since he does not have a driveway here, but since they were sold by the Lawrence Journal World family to the Ogden family, well, as of Aug. 7, they dropped their Sunday edition, and are now back to once a week, now on Wednesdays, to coincide with grocery insert adverts.

And sadly, the Ogden new ownership let go all the seasoned reporters, who earned more, including the great Caroline Boyer, but kept the kids.

And, like Shawnee Mission Post, folks need to realize they are really mouthpieces for City Hall. They do not report both sides of a story, they write what the City Manager wants the narrative to be.

Still, with the Shawnee Dispatch (which, ironically was originally owned by Rob Roberts, now at kcbizjournals, at least we have something, once a week, to hold in our ink-stained hands. And a perfect bag for dog poop. So there's that...

Life is good in Johnson County.

  4. Be great if he just moved back to Nebraska. And takes Russ Johnson and Staubio with him.

  6. He was a YES BOY at the star and his reputation proceeded him. He hasn't worked for at least two years. Another "reporter" with no idea What journalism is.
