Craig Talks Kansas City Comedy Weekend
Craig starts his weekend with a story about how an EPIC comedy career started here in Kansas City . . .
AJ Finney Returns To Kansas City Comedy Stage, Stanfords.
AJ Finney was an open mic comic in Westport back in the late 90's. In those days so many young people wanted to make it to the next level, being a national headliner. All the young comics dreamed of being on television and maybe even film or a tv series. For most it will always be a dream. For a chosen few it all has become a reality. AJ Finney is one of the chosen.
Finney's big break came several years back when he won a national contest put on by HBO to come to Las Vegas and be one of 30 young comics to perform at Caesars Palace with the likes of Jerry Seinfeld, Chris Rock and an endless list of mega comedy stars. Finney was picked up by a west coast manager and his career took off. Since then AJ has been a constant on cable radio programs, had a hit comedy album on Itunes, was on Fox's 'Laughs', Comedy Central, in 2013's Last Comic Standing this past year was hand picked to tour with comedy rock star TJ Miller and perform in front of theater crowds. They loved his unique style and observations on life in the midwest. Today AJ lives in Denver but KC is still in his heart as he returns to Stanford and Sons in Overland Park this weekend. Everyone expects AJ to do some big things in the years to come.
You can see AJ at Stanfords this Friday or Saturday night with another budding comic Pat Ryan. He has a special following right here in Kansas City that love the guy. See why. Call Stanfords for tickets at 913 400 7500 or go online for dinner and show to stanfordscomedyclub.com. Stanfords has been profiling area comics that have gone on to national attention this past month. Coming up soon are comics that we enjoy like Michael Winslow from all the Police Academy Movies and Jeff Richards from Saturday Night Live. Have a nice weekend as summer winds down.
