This tragic note is making its way around local social media circles and it describes a terrifying and increasingly frequent violent encounter in this Kansas City corridor . . .
"I was jumped on 39th Street and Wyandotte, I was held down at gunpoint and two men stole my backpack, car and phone. The vehicle is a 2016 Kia Forte that is black with a silver stripe. there is an upside down 39th street sticker next to the rear plates as well. If you see this car please call the police."
Some of the messages surrounding this bit of online testimony suggest that there's a gang dedicated to Midtown car crime and thieves have reportedly become emboldened over the past few months.
