TKC SUNDAY CONCLUSION: VOTERS CONFRONTED WITH REALITY OF CITY HALL POLICE CUTS AFTER MIDTOWN KANSAS CITY UNDER CRIME SIEGE!!!

The past week has been one of the most violent amid THE KANSAS CITY BLOODY SUMMER 2016 and the upcoming days don't seem to provide much relief as temperatures and political tensions continue to rise.

However . . .

THE DENIZENS OF OUR KICK-ASS TKC BLOG COMMUNITY AND MORE THOUGHTFUL KANSAS CITY VOTERS NOW SEEM TO UNDERSTAND THE REAL WORLD IMPACT OF CUTTING POLICE ON LOCAL STREETS AND THE VIOLENCE THAT QUICKLY ENSUES IN THEIR ABSENCE!!!

This week, one of the best local news sources penned a remarkable column on the tragic trend that has now "come home to roost" for local politicos . . .

Northeast News:  Police budget cuts pushback

KCPD has tried to do more with less but that strategy rarely works . . .

Chief Forté: Reducing positions while maintaining service

Meanwhile, Mayor Sly defends the cuts and cynically cites the police budget but that spin hasn't proven effective in convincing crime victims:

Mayor Sly James: "Police weren't cut. Only budget positions, not people. Budget for PD has gone up every year I have been in office."

A reality check for from police union reps and the long term cuts to police . . .

The PD has 90 less P.O.'s today than 9 years ago. That IS the fact. Police Annual Report is source.

Still . . .

THIS WEEK RAMPANT CARJACKINGS, ROBBERIES, BURGLARIES, PROPERTY CRIME AND GUNPOINT THREATS TO POKEMON GO PLAYERS REVEAL THAT MIDTOWN KANSAS CITY IS UNDER SIEGE!!!

The bright side of all this is that more locals are seeing community cooperation with police as an essential function of Kansas City's infrastructure and showing their support.

Meanwhile, more people are losing interest and faith in the Mayor's Citizens Task Force against violence and so many other anti-crime groups as voters are mired in election season promises and the reality of increasingly violent streets.

You decide . . .

  2. Again, you're not seeing the forest from the trees TKC. A new streetcar line could help the fight against crime and will bring more resources to your beloved Midtown KC.

The streetcar has increased vibrancy in Downtown and it could do the same all the way to the Plaza.

We need to look for solutions. You are the best in KC at pointing out problems TKC, but take the next step and realize that a REAL investment in transit is part of the solution!

  4. common sense and leadership, they're needed now.

but the consensus that would result in the ascension of good people is fractured for the time being.

hence, the dominance of lawless, inept leaders today at all levels.

  12. Black people are emboldened by what is going on in the country, especially in Jackson County where they know if they're convicted of a crime odds are they won't do any time. Black people know they have the cops by the shorthairs right now so they are taking advantage. They know screaming "racism" will get them out of almost everything. They know cops are patrolling less and are going out of their way to avoid areas where black people are likely committing crimes because if they make one perceived wrong move, their careers could be over. It's easier to pull over white people on Ward Parkway for traffic violations than to patrol Westport or Midtown.

  13. Like Kay's proposal for snow removal was to wait for spring, Sly's approach to reducing the homicide rate is to hope for a very cold winter.
    Only five months to go!
    Hang in there!

  15. Until further notice, take every fit officer behind a desk and put him/her in a patrol car. Out of the building, out in the streets. What's so hard. Old, young. Promoted? Get back in the patrol, show solidarity. Newbies...out in pairs, graveyard shift.

  17. Cut the fire department in half and double the number of policemen.

  18. Who gives a fuck. Let the mayor and council answer to the murders on their own. Instead they have crossed their fingers and hoped that NOVA might work. The chief had no idea how to solve this dilemma. Every time I read Twitter it's and sharing someone else's words or pandering to a small portion of the community.

Most of us don't live in the urban core so let it burn. Who will they blame next?

  19. If Midtown goes, the KCMO doesn't have much left. Downtown is just office buildings. Take away Midtown and you take away the real Kansas City.

  22. Black lives don’t matter.

If they did, people would be rioting to burn down Planned Parenthood locations, which have been intentionally located in minority neighborhoods since the group’s racist founder Margaret Sanger decided that it was the easiest way to exterminate them. In 1922 she said:

“We should hire three or four colored ministers, preferably with social-service backgrounds, and with engaging personalities. The most successful educational approach to the Negro is through a religious appeal. We don’t want the word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population, and the minister is the man who can straighten out that idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”

They’ve been wildly successful. New York City aborted more black babies than were born alive in 2013.

    Black lives don’t matter.

Black women having abortions are the most prolific serial killers of blacks, murdering 10,000-1 more than cops.

    Black lives don’t matter.

Black-on-black violence accounts for thousands of murders every year and hundreds of thousands of assaults… but you pretend that a handful of incidents involving police is where the problem lies?

    Black lives don’t matter.

In hip-hop culture, women are degraded as nothing more than sexual conquests, criminality is celebrated, and education, family and hard, honest work is not just ignored, but spat upon.
    Black lives don’t matter.

If black lives did matter, they’d rebel against the toxins in their own culture that account for the vast majority of violence, poverty, and death, instead of celebrating “thug life.”

Black lives don’t matter. At least, they don’t matter unless they’re killed by a white cop as they commit crimes, and then everyone loses their fool minds.

    Black lives matter?

Your actions day in and day out when there isn’t someone else to scapegoat say otherwise.
But it is easier to put on a song and dance and say, “hands up, don’t shoot” and go back to listening to Jay Z and Tupac and refusing to actually do anything to change a toxic culture that taught Trayvon that it is okay to try to beat a “creepy a** cracker” to death because he thought he was being followed, or for Michael Brown to attempt to murder a cop, or for Eric Garner to collect government benefits and sell illegal cigarettes because he was–in his wife’s words–too lazy to get a job.

    Black lives matter?

    Show us, don’t tell us.

Maybe when you start acting like you believe it yourselves, the rest of the world will take you seriously.
