TKC QUESTION: HAS THE KANSAS CITY BLOODY SUMMER 2016 CRIME WAVE RUINED MIDTOWN, WESTPORT AND THE PLAZA?!?!

Like it or not, it seems that so much attention to the Downtown Toy Train Streetcar and development along its smallish path has come at the cost of more established Kansas City neighborhoods.

The question . . .

HAS THE FOCUS ON THE DOWNTOWN TOY TRAIN STREETCAR GOOD LIFE COME AT THE COST OF MIDTOWN, WESTPORT AND THE PLAZA?!?!

After a string of robberies this week . . . POLICE ARE STEPPING UP PATROLS TO SAVE THIS EMBATTLED CROSS-SECTION OF KANSAS CITY . . . Meanwhile, there's no arguing with the FACT that this Summer has seen increased danger for pedestrians, motorists and anyone who dares leave their house after dark in this part of town.

You decide . . .

  1. The toy train ruined everything. It is the source of all your problems.

  2. ^^^ It could be the solution to the Midtown's problems. If we get the streetcar extension that will mean more resources along this corridor and more police.

Think about it and sign the petition for the streetcar to the Plaza!

  3. The crime started in Hyde Park and it's moving west.

    Follow the money.

  4. Follow the money: look at home sales. Nothing is selling in this part of KCMO during what is usually an active time of year. There is your story TKC.

  5. TIF abuse is the real problem, not the streetcar.

  6. Doe anyone one really care? Who gives a sh-it.

  7. ^^^ Nobody cares about crime, the 110 million dollar streetcar or corporate welfare. Sure Wildman. We're all just one big happy family in Kansas City!

You want to know the problem with KC? Look no further than the Mayor rubbing elbows at the Democratic National Convention.

  9. While Sly is in Philly he might notice that a stronger police presence is the best deterrent to crime. Put more cops on the street and pay for it with the $15,000,000 plus annual subsidy to Cordish for the P&L District.

Interested to hear Teresa Loar at DNC Convention. As a failed Republican candidate for Congress in 2000, she can also observe how security can be enhanced.

I hope the budget of the City Council Aviation Committee will allow her to travel first class; "in the style to which she would like to be accustomed."

    Just saying.

  15. 4 robberies on Wednesday night, two more last night.

    Sly's response: Nothing.

  16. The teen mobs ruined the Plaza a long time ago, now they're all grown up and doing some real damage to KCMO.

  17. Tony, do you ever get out of your Mom's basement? When was the last time you were in Midtown, Westport or the Plaza?

Because I've got news for you. People are all over them. They're busy. And people are safe. And happy. And shopping. And dining out.

Seriously, dude, tone it down. (no pun intended). Kill the hyperbole (go look it up). Chill. The sky isn't falling, Chicken Little, much as you like to hate on your own city.

I was down there like 2 weeks ago, broheim, with my boys Hunter, Todd, and Drew-dog, plus our fuck buddies Katie, Katie, Katie, MacKenzie and Katie. We were shopping for some sweet pastel shorts at Vineyard Vines (get the clothes to get the ho's, amirite) and maybe some plastic neon framed sunglasses. Like, no one was there, bro! Plaza sucks, epic fail. Plus we saw 2 'groes (if you know what I mean). they were just walking along, talking to each other, and man was it hairy there for a minute. Anyway, whatevs, brah. Love yer blawg, dog.

      That's rare, Chad. Congratulations. ;)
