Quick fact check on a Kansas City reaction to discount materials and speculative real estate development. Take a look at a local perspective from our blog community . . .
"More new subsidized market, rate apartments going up in the River Market area. They are totally out of character for the area. What had they been drinking at City Hall when they approved that design? It totally looks like cheap, vinyl siding on the outside."
Developing . . .
Well Trolley Boy (Dickhead Neighbor) said in his own words... "funny thing when you do something a lot: you figure out ways to do it faster and cheaper"
ReplyDelete"buy america" definitely drives up a lot of the costs.
Certainly people don't think that the developers are investing the tax incentives and subsidies into high quality buildings do they?
ReplyDeleteI live in a loft in River Market. The building was built in the 1800’s. It is becoming out of character for the area. The neighborhood is starting to look like 135th Street in JoCo.
ReplyDeleteAs part of KCMO's equal opportunity and diversity brain-freeze, they've apparently decided to give barracks designers and cast-off architects from Stalinist Russia a shot at creating buildings in the city.
ReplyDeleteAnd it really doesn't look much like southern Overland Park; more like designs from the 1950s public housing fiascoes.
Just keep in mind that the day this schlock is occupied is a time that both the buildings themselves and their tenants will be the best you'll ever have.
Then take a look in about five to six years.
All aboard!
River Market needs some tittie bars and porn shops.
ReplyDeleteRemember how that got rid of a bunch of buildings down there.
Coming back from KCI over the Broadway bridge my relatives who have never visited here before saw the River Market box apartments and asked.. is that the section 8 ghetto here?
ReplyDeleteAt least Webster's has a new picture for the word "ugly."
ReplyDeleteHell Tony, you should be in charge of everything and it would be perfect.
ReplyDeleteWAAAAAAAHAHAHAHHAAHAHHA!
Guarantee you, within 2 to 3 years after those are Built - they will be Section 8 Housing, turned into Projects,, filled with Drugs, prostution , Crime, Degenerate Hoodrat Thugs, Murders every nite and robberies & rapes !!
ReplyDeleteThe Developer knows this and that's why he is scrimping on materials, why put a lotta money into something that their just going to tear up anyway !!!!
The Degenerate Liberal Lib'Tard Goons at KCMO City Hall, will just refer to it as affordable housing - tho we all know it as SECTION 8 Slums = FACT !!!!!
an random anonymous opinion is a "fact check?"
ReplyDeletelol
There is section 8 housinga east of Troost that looks a heck of a lot better.
ReplyDeleteNiggas be tearing dat shit up in no time.
ReplyDeleteThe one race that will never be too old to have to babysit.
ReplyDeleteRemember the apartment buildings down there that won an "urban design award"? After just a few years the outer walls had to be stripped off, waterproofing materials installed and recovered. They are just stacked boxes, like children's blocks, covered with cheap stucco. This is today's design, built of cardboard.
