TKC EXCLUSIVE!!! COUNCIL LADY JOLIE JUSTUS JUXTAPOSITION: IS KANSAS CITY'S GREATEST LGBT ACTIVIST OUR BIGGEST NEIGHBORHOOD DISAPPOINTMENT?!?
Without question Kansas City voters were excited at the prospect of State Senator Jolie Justus serving on the City Council and bringing her fiery brand of culture war activism to City Hall.
While she never passed a single noteworthy bill in Jeff City . . . Jolie Justus was undeniably brilliant when it came to rallying the base of Democratic and LGBT denizens into a frenzy that later worked to ramp up statewide races wherein Democratic Party leaders were able to pull off a number of upsets in a solidly red state.
However, Council Lady Jolie Justus might be a victim of her own success inasmuch as City Hall is one of the most progressive work environments in all of the Midwest. 12th & Oak was among the first to tout equal healthcare and benefits for LGBT couples and now that gay marriage is the law of the land . . . There simply isn't any bad guy to fight among the denizens of council chambers who are overwhelmingly progressive.
Accordingly . . .
COUNCIL LADY JOLIE JUSTUS HAS DEFINED HER TENURE WITH SUPPORT OF UNPOPULAR CORPORATE AND ELITIST PROJECTS THAT HAVE PROVEN UNPOPULAR WITH MOST NEIGHBORHOOD RESIDENTS!!!
Let's review . . .
- Council Lady Jolie Justus seems to be the wind beneath the wings of the unpopular idea of a new MCI single-terminal airport.
- Council Lady Justus leads the anti-violence task force that has been renowned as a bad joke within the urban core and among 2nd Amendment advocates.
- Council Lady Jolie Justus championed a shoddy liquor ordinance that now confronts neighborhood petition and an impending repeal.
To be fair, she recently won a bit of praise for opposing 18th & Vine subsidy . . . And her supporters are STILL pushing her to run for Mayor.
Meanwhile, this beloved and still very popular political lady simply hasn't found her grassroots, up-with-the-people, activist niche that helped to identify her as a Democratic Party crusader in Jeff City . . .
The reality is that Mayor Sly and the cadre of lawyers working at City Hall have TURNED COUNCIL LADY JOLIE JUSTUS INTO A BIT OF A WOLF IN SHEEP'S CLOTHING in the constant struggle betwixt developers and neighborhood concerns that have defined the tenure of Mayor Sly James.
