TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY INSIDERS RAGE AGAINST MAYOR SLY CUTS TO POLICE AMID DEADLY YEAR OF LOCALLY CONNECTED ATTACKS AGAINST LAW ENFORCEMENT AND FEAR UPCOMING PUBLIC SAFETY FUNDING FIGHT!!!

Once again Kansas City stands at the precipice of a devastating political battle over law enforcement funding amid turbulent times that have claimed the lives of police nationwide and locally.

To wit . . .

KANSAS CITY INSIDERS WARN OF AN EPIC FUNDING FIGHT TARGETING MAYOR SLY'S CUTS AND TINKERING WITH THE POLICE BUDGET IN THE AFTERMATH OF A DEADLY YEAR FOR LAW ENFORCEMENT!!!

A bit of background . . .

At the outset of this year police feared that 100 positions would be cut.

Mayor Sly James touted "tough choices" throughout the budget process . . .

The KCPD Chief did his best to argue against staff reductions and then explain his strategy of coping with budget trimming: Reducing positions while maintaining service

The public continued to complain and Mayor Sly's answers focused more on wordplay and not a realistic view of police funding and its consequences . . .

And then . . .

A TRAGIC SPIKE IN DEADLY VIOLENCE AGAINST COPS NECESSITATED A POLICE POLICY CHANGE THAT COULD BUST KANSAS CITY'S BUDGET!!!

KCPD: Officers will respond to every call in pairs following shooting in Baton Rouge

Now here's the EXCLUSIVE part and a quote from AWESOME TKC TIPSTERS . . .

"TKC, just wanted to let you know that the KCPD decision to pair up officers is literally breaking the bank. They wanted to dump it almost immediately because the staffing was nearly impossible but then Capt. Melton was killed in KCK which made the local threat of shootings targeting police even more pronounced . . . There's simply no way KCPD is going to get through this without some MAJOR funding readjustments. A couple of council members are already working on it and they plan on skewing Sly and his cronies and even the Chief for their work pushing police cuts at one of the worst times in history to take money away from local law enforcement. FYI."

Remember that the Baton Rouge cop killer and the local standoff and ongoing investigation in to his Kansas City ties evoked a massive response from police on Sunday . . .

And then . . .

The AWESOME TKC TIPSTER is correct . . . In addition to culture war carnage created by racist domestic terrorists . . . There's also increasing local danger and higher crime stats on both sides of the state line:

The Latest From KMBC: Court appearance set for 2 men charged in police captain's death

Accordingly . . .

MAYOR SLY AND HIS CHEERLEADERS PUSHING POLICE CUTS WHILE COPS ALL OVER THE NATION ARE UNDER FIRE HAS BEEN A TRAGIC MISCALCULATION AND NOW INSIDERS ARE LOOKING TO EXACT A POLITICAL PRICE!!!

As we enter into election season and the BLOODY SUMMER OF 2016 continues . . . Look for anybody advocating cuts against KCPD to face quite a bit of pushback.

Developing . . .

  1. Sly will never be congressman and he shouldn't get to pick his replacement.

  2. Sorry Tk, all the money is gone to pay for the hotel and streetcar. Too bad, a city that funds police, infrastructure and streets sounds nice.

  3. KCPD had 9 officers working during the day the other day in an area from the river to the Plaza, The state line to prospect. Of those 9, five were in cars by themselves. Regardless of what the chief says, KCMO is not following KCKs lead on this one.

    1. Forte's word tricks said, "two officers responding to every call" meaning still one person crews, just 2 cars going to every call which is probably bullshit too.

  4. Personally I think all priority calls should be two man units. But then I have said this for years and not seemed to have had any effect anywhere. Same as I say all fire pumper and ladder trucks should have four men crews.

But people think things like Folly Trolley's, new airports along with fancy hotels while handing out TIF awards like candy at Halloween are needed more.

  5. The Mayor is a lame duck, it's not worth hassling him. Give it a rest man, now should be the time when people are focused on improving community relations and looking to find resources for people who need it so they don't feel like they're forced to lash out. It's not about responding with guns, it's about building bridges. You linked that Wall St. article about the good work the chief is doing in keeping the peace, did you read it? THAT is what we need to focus on, not a bunch of councilman who are just trying to be the next in line to get the mayor's job.

  6. People are already complaining about response times, I'm all for the safety of the officers as priority one, but cutting the number of cars to double up will only create longer response times to calls. This is what the city gets for electing people who prioritize business and money over safety.

  7. Not sure where you're getting your facts. Officers were 2 person on all calls the day Baton Rouge happened and ONLY til noon the very next day. Officers are still handling calls the same as always (1 officer on many types of calls). The reason for not protecting the officers' safety is the departments fear of bad press about response times. OFFICER SAFETY vs RESPONSE TIMES= A risk to Officers lives. Check your facts. Call kcfop President Lemon- he will give you the real facts.

  10. @11:52 - you're reading it to straight forward, typical cop. The post is more about police funding cuts overall.

  11. "...I have said this for years and not seemed to have had any effect anywhere..."

So, who the fuck are you when you're at home. If you're someone important, you should say so & not hide behind some childish handle. SUPERDave? Really?

    ReplyDelete
  13. 12:42 Dave has said that probably longer than you are old age wise. It started many years ago when he rolled up on a working house fire alone in a pumper. His words pack a lot of truth.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Neither are you, bitch. STFU yourself.

  15. If you know his name, then tell us, because he's too afraid.

If he was a fireman, then he probably retired with full benefits before I was born.

But, being a fireman doesn't make him all wise. His ignorant shit is all over this blog.

  16. Dave Osbourne?

The only fireman I've even known was gay.

  19. If S'lie was a good steward of resources during budget constraints, the big guy (USMC, huh?) declines security detail expenses (or, cut in half) and protects himself.

Agree with the second 11:44...and question if KC officers prefer one per car for good reasons. The "front lines" must know.

    John T., wtf???

So, he's a fucking hero because he did his fucking job? That's why he was being overpaid. Local 42 rules this nest, so don't bitch about city hall.

  22. So, are we gonna get that streetcar extension or not? I mean, money for police isn't as important as our UMKC line, amirite?

  26. Retired Fire Chief7/22/16, 2:51 PM

The story about Super Dave responding to a reported house fire and being first on scene is true. He wasn’t in a pumper however, but if I remember correct it was the stations rescue wagon that had air bottles and rescue equipment and so forth. Dave was off duty and responded to the call as many firefighters did back years ago on small departments. The so called officer on duty that night responded to the wrong address and was several streets away looking for a fire that wasn’t there. Thank God, not to long after this, the officer in question, was no longer employed as a firefighter. But Dave went to the correct location, got the people out of the house while on the radio directing the other two lost units to the correct location. Dave downplayed his role a lot on this incident as just doing his job and the department somehow got the KC Star to not report the incident as it happened, wanting the story for the most part not printed. But a KC Star reporter, who had seen Dave in action in the past, is who gave Dave his Super Dave nick name, for what he did that night. To be honest we all laughed a little as some of you in here on this blog do about the name, but it stuck to him, and has followed him through life. Dave went on to being a part of the fire service for over I know 20 plus years with 3 different departments with obtaining the highest rank of Assistant Chief. He knows the fire service very well and so give the guy credit where credit is due.

  27. What does the streetcar have to do with police department squandering their ever-increasing budget?

The Streetcar has it's own taxing district, and doesn't share my funding sources with the PD.

  36. The police budget cuts were made to fund the streetcar. A big portion of your utility bill increases is going to fund the streetcar. In the cost the city shows you for the streetcar and it's possible expansion, the expenses for relocation of utilities are not included. The water department is paying for their share out of your bill payments. We have to assume other utilities are doing the same but they won't reply to requests for information! The STREETCAR will drive our city into bankruptcy.
