TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY OPPONENTS OF TOY TRAIN STREETCAR EXTENSION CIRCULATE NEW PETITION DEMANDING CITYWIDE VOTE AND $1000 TRANSIT CHEERLEADER PENALTY!!!

The subject of Kansas City Democracy and special interest tactics in devising transportation districts is at the heart of the latest citizen petition initiative put before voters.

To wit . . .

FIRST ON TKC!!! IN A VOTER PETITION BATTLE ROYALE, CHECK THIS BOLD MOVE TO DEMAND A PUBLIC VOTE ON THE PROPOSED TOY TRAIN STREETCAR EXTENSION!!!

Now, there were earlier reports about Clay Chastain's light rail petition rivaling transit enthusiasts who want to extend the streetcar line . . . In reality, THIS latest effort from critics of the toy train offers more of a check and balance to the Midtown KCMO TDD dream.

We talked EXCLUSIVELY to insiders about this move and here's they had to say . . .

"The petition proposes a vote on the extension to be included at the regular election in November. David Johnson wants another one of the mail-in votes that requires the ballot to be notarized."

More on the intention of this petition from another KICK-ASS KANSAS CITY INSIDER . . .

"The petition says that no tax dollars can be used to study, plan for, or expand the existing streetcar without putting it to a citywide vote of all citizens. Even if the proponents are successful in getting an expansion approved, they won't get far without city dollars. This is similar to the initiative about the airport that was accomplished by CFRG."

Check the language of the petition . . .

"Request that Chapter 64, Article XIV, Code Of Ordinances of the City Of Kansas City, Missouri be amended to enact a new Section 64-181 to prohibit any and all City officers, agents and employees from requesting, implementing, advancing, furthering, funding or fostering any plan or study to construct any fixed rail transit system or to expand the existing fixed rail transit system, without first putting the matter to a vote of the registered voters of the City of Kansas City, Missouri. The proposed ordinance also establishes penalties for non compliance . . ."

Accordingly . . .

YOU READ THAT RIGHT . . . THIS KANSAS CITY PETITION PROPOSES A $1000 FINE FOR PUSHING THE STREETCAR FORWARD WITHOUT CITYWIDE VOTER APPROVAL!!!

Here's a TKC BREAKING/EXCLUSIVE NEWS AT THE PETITION AND THE PROPOSED ORDINANCE FIRST and because our blog community respects our local Democracy and discourse as much as anyone else (probably more) in this town . . .

Now, you decide . . .

  1. These guys are undeniably right about one thing. The streetcar costs everyone who lives or visits KCMO. There's no way around it. Our police have been cut, our streets are a mess and there's less money for employees thanks to this streetcar. It's just an accounting trick that keeps it in a transit district and that needs to be exposed. The streetcar is siphoning money away from more important improvements we need to make. that is the REAL story that needs to be covered.

  2. Where can I sign? Would like to help these folks, there should be an alternative to the other petition. It's not fair that a dozen people are asking the rest of us to pay hundreds of millions of dollars without a vote.

  3. ^^^ if they were really smart they would get Clay on board with this, he wants the whole city to vote on his light rail plan too. Only a small group want to use the TDD. most realize it's unfair.

  4. What happened to the First Amendment? A fine for expressing an opinion?
This is what right wing Republicans are really all about but seldom say it out loud. At their core they only want a dictatorship type government where anyone speaking against the given "truth" is punished.
This CFRG group must love Trump.

  5. ^^^ That's totally wrong. They want the public to vote, it's the streetcar people who are cutting out the rest of KC voters who should get a say. They are the liberal Hillary Clinton fascists.

  6. I will sign the petition, too. Let people know where they can sign or post a form online, we can collect signatures too. David Johnson is the LGBT Donald Trump. Put an end to it, now.

  7. Naw, They're Commies who are supported by Scrooge McDuck, or maybe Rex Sinquefield, in a radical about face head-fake move.

  8. If King Sly wasn't positive he could pull of his grandios plan and get away with it he would have never laid the first rail in this train fiasco. In that aspect he is right. Some of the fine citizens of KC will fart, belch and moan, but the fact is they will sit on their asses and watch until Sly gets everything Sly wants. This is how it has always been in this town.

Most people coming to KC are surprised at the apathy and the shit that gets pull over the population's eyes, but in the end they are guaranteed to be good little sheep. Things are never going to change as long as the numb nuts in this town sit around as if the crooked local government is going to change things and make things right. Hell, you can't even get people to cast a silly ass vote in this town. The just keep doing exactly what is predicted. How foolish is that?

  9. Why doesn't David Johnson want all the taxpayers to vote?

  10. Where can I go to sign?

  11. David Johnson and Matt Staub

I think most citizens of KCMO at this stage would love nothing more then to tar and feather these two rural implant ripoff artists in public.

The crowds and onlookers would be huge!

  12. I think Schulte and McIntrye need another tax payer funded romantic get away to Spain to figure this out

    ReplyDelete
  13. Staubio is TDD director of the Streetcar Authority so this bastard is in it 100%.

Johnson will do most of the dirty work for him.

  14. Where can voters sign???

  15. $1000 is a joke & nothing will be accomplished

  16. ^^^^^
The penalty makes sense, the only thing the council understands is money.

  17. I am all for the voters but we have to help the streetcar succeed not look for ways to hold it back. I think the public is ready to support an extension now that they have seen the progress. Let's pUT it to a real vote! The voters will do the right thing.

    1. Kind of like you aren't convincing people that the streetcar is bad idea eventhough a bunch of libs came up with it.

    2. Streetcar isn't a partisan issue, your messaging is weak wheN you try to make it about Democratic Party against Republicans. If that was true the east side would have voted for it. Everyone knows it's a ripoff.

  20. Go 4 KC = insane Koolaid drinker.

  21. Not a good idea.
    I don't understand why.
    Good for business?
    Great for riders?
Every time they mess this up.
    Really when will they stop?
    Soon I hope.

  22. If it prevents two rubes from rural Kansas and Nebraska empowered by Lyin Sly that advocate discriminatory voting practices for overpriced transit that doesn't serve low income communities and want to exclude 80% of city voters in another rigged mail in vote I'm all for it.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Go for kc@11:17

We've already had that vote in August 2014. You must have missed it or didn't bother to vote. Expansion plans were clobbered, 70 to 30 voted down. That's a big emphatic NO.
