Sleaze Summit Scandal Over $800

Here's what passes for political intrigue in the suburbs:

"District 1 Council Woman Diane Forte took two jobs from the city without bidding out the business to her competitors. One of the jobs was worth $700, and the other was worth $1,100. According to city rules, any job worth more than $500 should be bid out."

And so . . . Whilst raging over trophy-making contracts isn't exactly a fight for good government, it provided just a bit of entertainment for suburbanites who didn't have anything better to do on a weekday night . . . And yet another occasions where political hopefuls can make life long enemies. We'll have more on this later . . . Words fly, tempers flare over Lee's Summit no-bid contracts

  1. If the law was in fact broken, this lady better not try to pull a Hillary and think that she's above the law.

  2. State and local elected officials and bureaucrats are above the law. Only when the feds come in can there be any consequences. And when the feds break the law there is no law enforcement to hold them accountable.

  3. TV5 @ 6pm clips of a gruff, overly defensive Forte, with wild finger jabbing and document waving was quite telling. It's reported she's BUSTED by a smoking gun e-mail she sent attempting to 'rig on a bid', by informal price comparisons done through a colleague. Crooked...sneeky...greedy...

  6. Chris is right on this one. He's got a lot of proof to back it up. Now we have to see if these small time politicos care about how their government is run.

  7. Such little money.....Kansas City.....through its EDC hands out no-bid contracts worth millions. Lee's Summit should learn the tricks of KC.
