SHOW-ME MORE TAXES ON MISSOURI CANCER STIX COMING SOON!?!

The days of discounting the favorite cash crop of the South are nearly done in the Show-Me State . . . Here's a proposal which targets low costs and more tobacco taxes that hope to shrink tumors before they start by way of the wallets of people too stubborn or ignorant to make good decisions about their health . . . When it comes to cigarette taxes, Missouri is dead last

  1. Do you want the tax revenue, or do you want people to quit smoking?

    This is class warfare.

  2. Raise the cost to $10 a pack. Who cares? Idiots who continue to kill themselves will still buy 'em and I guess we'll continue to reap the benefits via the taxes. I wish we could find other constructive uses for tobacco to keep those folks from losing money because I'd really love to see smoking banned - everywhere. It's disgusting, smelly, and non-smokers are constantly exposed to secondhand smoke no matter where they go.

I eat tons of fresh Gulf of Mexico seafood and Fresh Tuna from the pacific off the coast of Japan to support my good health! Don't be taxing me now! I'm capable of making good decisions about my health!

  4. 11:48 Agreed. Barbecue smoke adding to the general air quality in this city is much better for ones health.

Love the smell of charcoal lighter fluid in the morning.

  5. Quite frankly airborne tire particles and smog kind of make me feel healthy like a hot and sexy wild animal. Helps me with my workouts at the gym every morning too.

  6. Just drink a lot beer. Lots and lots of beer daily. It will ward off any diseases and protect your health.

  7. We can easily go from last to first by turning the list upside down. Having the lowest sales tax on tobacco or anything else is a positive not a negative.

  10. The trend is for marijuana to be made legal & tobacco to be made illegal.

Guess who smokes marijuana, & who smokes tobacco.

Middle class tyranny will make America Great Again (for white people).

  11. Politicians continually raising taxes arbitrarily on tobacco, alcohol, other so-called "sin" products is a representation of their stupidity.

Ask them why they need to place such a discriminatory tax burden on these products, and they'll say they want to discourage use, as the products are harmful. Why not make these products illegal then? As that would be the logical extension of their argument. The answer of course is that they're hypocritical wimps who are far more interested in raising tax revenues than concerning themselves with public health.

Ask yourself, if politicians are concerned about public health and seek to decrease smoking-related health issues, why are more states moving toward the legalization of marijuana?

You can't simultaneously claim that tobacco is bad for you, while marijuana is acceptable.

That's the Missouri tobacco tax's story.

  13. Fuck all you sniveling bitches. Most of the people bitching about cigarettes are fat lazy fucks anyway who have no respect for themselves. Bitching about second hand smoke while eating a greasy chicken leg. There should be a fat person tax. You think us smokers want to see you stuffing your fat assessment at the buffet every day? Why don't you teach your children healthy eating habits and quit raising the next generation of fatasses? Fucking hipocrites
