Kansas City Starts 18th & Vine Payment Plan

Smaller cash upfront for this piecemeal effort for a district that has NEVER been sustainable. Here's the best roundup: KC Council unanimously approves $7 million plan for 18th and Vine

Comments

  1. They could always run a streetcar down 18th Street to 18th and Vine and that would solve everything with 65,000 riders a day going to Arthur Bryant's.

  2. $107 million and counting.

  4. Just a good down payment and a set-up to be able to say, once again, "we've gotten such a good start, we just can't stop now".
    What a joke!

  5. BASIC SERVICES PLEASE you dumb fucking council. Call 911 and get put on hold. Call 311 to report a pothole, not put on hold.

  6. They will spend that 27 million - just watch.

  7. Unfuckingreal. How can something like this happen? This is outright theft. You could give this black hole a billion dollars and it would still be a total failure. I can't believe the same grifters from 10 years ago need to load up their bank accounts again. Seriously, the Feds need to investigate this.

  8. There is no state or federal oversight of the council. That's how they can get away with this. Unanimous means every single council person including the mayor did this. Let that sink in...

  9. Praise be to the Lord for backing the Clowncil down from squandering another $27 million dollars. $7 million is also a big number but easier to swallow than Cluncilman Reed's first ask. It is also heartwarming to see the Clowncil and the Obese Bowtie cut of the greedy hands of Manny "let me fly to florida free" C. His latest reach into the public till got trimmed and mostly rebuffed. Any time one of his ideas goes down, the citizens are benefitting. Stay in DC, "C"

  10. Unfortunately, 9:20pm is right.
$7 million is just the beginning of spending at least $27 million, and probably more, in dribs and drabs.
For which you will actually get less than an up-front commitment of the entire amount, but will be less noticeable to the taxpayers as it goes out the door in smaller increments.
KCMO city government is nothing more than a taxpayer-refilled trough for the swells, grifters, insiders, consultants, and contributors who regularly inhabit the 22nd floor at city hall.
And the clueless clowns who get elected to the council just sit and wait for the endless line to visits their offices and make the ask.
    It never changes.

  11. But I thought the city "never does nuffin fo da easside" because they spent all the money on the Toy Train?

  12. Most expensive ghetto shooting gallery in the entire USA. What a fucking achievement.

  13. Just remember! It is NOT RAYSHITZ when the city knows your sewer is backing up and their answer is flushing your money down the 18th and Vine crapper.
