The post cites one cause of the shortfall. Another is the live-here work-here penalty we call the earnings tax. Kansas City is surrounded by suburbs that welcome residents and businesses; it is a bad idea to discourage them from locating here.

Etax, corruption, shitty city services, water department tax on every structure in kansas city and incompetent, poor quality leadership ar city hall are just a few of my grievances. Yes, I'm preparing to move. Yes, uhaul will be called and No I am not looking back. I hate this place. This place sucks ass. #kansasshitty

Well gosh darn it let's just lower assessments and property taxes Downtown and in the Crossroads again for another three years to keep the streetcar runnin' and to attract the millennials! Been working like a charm since 2010!
