Craig Talks Kansas City Comedy Scene And Michael Kosta @ Stanfords This Weekend
Because now is the best time for local laughs. Here's a word from our pal Craig . . .
Summer Laughs At Stanfords With Comedy Star Michael Kosta
This weekend you can see Tennis pro turned comic, Michael Kosta at Stanfords in Overland Park. Kosta was a college sensation at tennis and doing standup comedy. He went pro in tennis after his Big Ten years on the court. He says everyone asks me 'did you ever play at Wimbledon?" Michael answers, "uh no last I checked they didn't take the top 840...it'd be a two month tournament." He says I made 11,000 dollars in my four years of pro tennis, I often make that in a week or two of comedy at clubs or on tv. I think I made the right career move.
Kosta has had a nice run with his tv comedy, starting on The Tonight Show and being on it many times, then getting on Chelsea Lately. Michael got to host The Soup and then got his own show on E Network,a Daniel Tosh type sports show called 'The Comment Section' doing reviews of blog talk on big time athletes who were guests on the show. Funny nasty stuff. Recently Kosta has teamed with Seth Meyers on his show and doing late night and Comedy Central Specials. He is on his way to getting a network series this coming year.
Its a big comedy week in KC with Louie CK and Ron White in theaters and now the young hot Kosta at Stanfords. You can spend your entire week seeing some great comedy in our city. Coming in August Saturday Night Lives star, Weekend Update guy Colin Jost on August 19th at Stanfords.
Enjoy the continued hot weather, get a tan and do some pool time. Have a great weekend. For tickets call 913 400 7500 or go online to stanfordscomedyclub.com. Don't forget great food at Stanfords in our restaurant right next to the comedy club at Rosana Square.
Catch Kosta doing Wimbledon Tournament coverage all weekend, of course his is a bit funnier than the network coverage.
