TKC TOLD YOU SO!!! KANSAS CITY RAGE OVER IMPACT OF POLICE CUTBACKS!!!

Not so long ago, when City Hall was attempting to pass the earnings tax, there was the argument that the controversial levy helped pay for public safety.

Now, after the tax won in a landslide victory . . . Kansas City is slashing police jobs.

Accordingly . . .

TONIGHT LET'S WARN OUR BLOG COMMUNITY ABOUT THE TOP CONSEQUENCES OF UPCOMING POLICE CUTS!!!

Like it or not the reduction in force will have an impact and here's a preview of what's to come . . .

OFFICER CUTS = LONG RESPONSE TIMES

This trend in the face of lower budget is neither hype nor a scare tactic but a warning from people who know better than bloggers, pundits or columnists: "FOP president says fewer officers on KC streets mean increased waits for police response".

NORTHLAND RISING CRIME CONCERN

For years, staffing across the bridge has been a concern and fewer officers overall don't make things better . . . For those who don't understand the situation let's not forget that amid consistently violent Kansas City weekends, officers/resources are often shifted and the Northland is left virtually unguarded.

BIGGER KANSAS CITY CASE BACKUP

For those who advocate women's rights but aren't concerned about public resources or taxpayer accountability . . . Here's a bit of info. This story trended recently and it's worth revisiting: Kansas City has a backlog of 1,324 untested rape kits. Again, fewer resources aren't going to help the situation.

Earlier today we talked about this topic and the recent statements of the KCPD Chief . . . Now, that the cuts are underway, Kansas City should help prepare for the consequences.

  1. Don't worry folks! Things are safer than they've ever been in Kansas City. KCPD has a new crime lab, new police facilities, new tools to fight crime and an over-paid staff, specifically the Police Chief. All of these things were intended to make Kansas City safe, safe, safe; and bring jobs, jobs, jobs! KCPD is the economic engine that couldn't... ever! But you fell for it hook, line and sinking ships! Now back to your regularly scheduled propaganda, urban gunfights and stray bullets!

  2. The earnings tax was a lie.

    A lie from Sly.

  4. Police wait times are not really a valid argument since cops actually preventing crime related theft or injury is probably way way under 1 percent. Likely the biggest issue will be just waiting to make some kind of report, but that has not been a speedy proposition in decades.

Seems like the biggest issues are delays in developing cases, keeping case notes and files up to snuff and perhaps delays in investigators interviewing witnesses and victims.

The problem KCPD has is being top heavy in supervision, brass and the need to reallocate resources so that case work becomes a higher priority. The worst thing would be for Forte to not make the tough decisions and get cops back working as cops. Some of those old farts will kick and scream at the thought of actually rolling up sleeves, but there is always some kid full of piss and vinegar just dying to get his hands on a few challenging cases. It goes back to training and experience being utilized to get the most out of a mess. Plenty at PD wont like it, but welcome to America where reorganization is not a new word in the real world.

  5. 1,324 untested rape kits ????? WTF

  6. Nothing that a few more million dollars for ad Hoc, Aim4Peace, and NoVa can't fix.
And just to be safe, buy a couple dozen Mothers in Charge T-shirts.
After all the press conferences, summit meetings, crime task forces, and big announcements, KCMO is still averaging two murders every single week.
So let's all keep making believe that the causes are things we all know they're really not and keep ignoring where the great majority of the homicides are taking place.
Doing the same thing, the same way, with the same people.
How's that working out for you?

  8. Glad you voted for that earnings tax now? Suckers!

  9. Those of you who could vote instead of being lied to and robbed anyway......

  10. Don't just blame the KCPD. Sure, they are top-heavy with few actually doing any real Police work, but keep in mind that Investigations must strike a balance. The JaCo Prosecutors Office has told some units that they are submitting too many cases. Imagine if all those rape kits were processed & those cases submitted in the next three months. JaCo would have a fit. Mean Jean wants to be tough on crime (when a camera is around), but she also has limited manpower.

  11. An endless fruitless tiresome Catch-22 to infinity and beyond usefulness for the people, by the people, and going fishing by shooting fish in a bucket of piss. Is this town going to Hell in a hand basket? Oh, the humanity. Give me justice....I can handle the truth. Incompetence thou art god. Excuses, take a number and have a seat. You got a long wait before you get 'er done. With a leap of faith and prayer, done right. Said the foolish optimistic patriot from KC.

  13. KCPD is a waste of City resources. Tll the cops in planning and research to get a real job.

  14. The earnings tax is a fucking joke. Everyone knew it was a lie to get more money from people who actually do the work in KC. Remember what Hitler said, "The great masses of people will believe a big lie before they believe a little lie. "

  15. Processing those RAPE KITS would get around 500 black criminals off of the streets, but, they are needed to vote Democratic in the upcoming election.

  16. Hey retard, that's ridiculous.

Criminals, & other poor people, usually don't vote, or even register to vote (the reason I'm always given is that they want to avoid jury duty.)

  17. Wow, if City Hall is cutting the police budget when there is no recession, I am scared to see what the fuck will happen when the money stops rolling in.

  18. Nice to see the village idiot chiming in. Can you imagine being on a jury with that fucking retard? He would be the retard that hung the jury that put a killer back on the street only because he didn't want to see a poor black man go to jail.

  19. I put my faith in the streetcar! It will save us all.

  20. That's about the dumbest thing Byron has ever said. Felons can't vote for one and the poor get paid to register and paid for a vote. The gemecrats have a well oiled voter fraud machine in place.

  21. I read post after post about the E Tax and such. What you uneducated people don't realize is that we as a city voted for this time frame back in 2011. The vote last month about the renewal of the tax was to extend it another five years to 2021. That vote in every way had no correlation to these issues. I think the bigger issue is that the city leaders have allowed this to come to its current state over the last decade with ignorant projects and developments that have proven to be a financial detriment to the city. I imagine that if KC had a "Public Safety Tax" like Independence and several others across the country people would be a lot less resistant to something that goes directly to the pd and fd and ems rather than going into the general fund and then being distributed from there.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Lots of cities have a "public safety tax" and when it passes they simply reduce general fund spending by the amount of the new tax thereby assuring that public safety doesn't get any additional funds. The only way to make a public safety tax meaningful is if is large enough to entirely fund public safety. Even then the general fund would probably charge the public safety fund for services.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Does anyone remember the days the police and fire departments where funded through the "general fund" from all those taxes collected every day???? The earnings tax started as a BS scam from libtard politicians who wanted to free up "general funds" for awesomeness like a $200 billion dollar train and 18th and Vine and more social programs and......well, you get it. Or do you you freaking morons!

    ReplyDelete
  24. BUT LYING SLY SAID THE EARNINGS TAX WOULD FUND THE POLICE DEPT. WHAT ELSE IS HE LYING ABOUT? TNE AIRPORT? THE HOTEL? THE STREETCAR! WHERE WAS HE YESTERDAY WHEN THE DEDICATION CEREMONY TO HONOR VETERANS WAS TAKING PLACE? A NO SHOW! LYING SLY SHOULD CHANGE HIS NAME TO SLIE!
