TKC BREAKING NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY WAR AGAINST CARS CONTINUES WITH ANTI-AUTO TRANSIT PLAN COMING SOON!!!

Another grand scheme from beloved 4th District Power Broker Jolie Justus is creating controversy . . .

To wit . . .

CHECK THE LATEST RESOLUTION TARGETING DRIVERS AND AUTO ACCOMMODATION IN KANSAS CITY!!!

Local activist have put an "action alert" on blast and here's their take on the pending City Hall action along with a link . . .

On Thursday this week, City Hall is going to start a push to implement ordinance 160361 sponsored by Councilwoman Jolie Justus. We cannot let this ordinance see the light of day. It is restrictive, open-ended and ambiguous and destructive of our freedoms as we know them. It will give developers (through no fault of their own) and city planners control over every aspect of our lives when it comes to transportation and more . . . Let’s not be fooled, the entire ordinance is part of a larger plan to promote STREETCAR EXPANSION by limiting the use of automobiles on our streets, particularly downtown. (we’ve all heard the whispers about doing away with the downtown loop on the north side). The plan is to eliminate automobiles downtown or anywhere light rail, streetcar, bike or walking paths will go. In several places within the TOD, it states the plan will limit incentives to business or areas that “have uses which only serve autos” . . .

You decide . . .

  1. One lesson we can learn from the past is that fixing problems with automobiles is a lot more effective than trying to get people to stop driving them. Since 1970, we’ve reduced toxic air pollution by 85 percent even though we drive 150 percent more miles per year.

  2. But it will increase property values! Like Staubios $94,000 super duper river market loft! The downtown people want to pay their fair share of taxes!!!! We swear!

    1. You're right, sir. Once the subsidies and tax abatements stopped - so does the desire to live in and own those apartments, I mean condo/lofts. It's cheaper to rent those things.

  3. It's $97,000. See the tremendous increase due to the toy train going outside your front door.

Amazing no one is calling downtown out on the stuff.

  4. That is one unhinged screed against a good, smart policy. Crematoriums? Agenda 21? Jesus, sheeple. I read the ordinance, and if there's one thing "libertarians" should support, it's eliminating the regulations that have made it impossible to build buildings in the city like the ones that were built when the city was being constructed in the first place. Requiring everything be built in such a way that the ONLY POSSIBLE WAY to get around is in a car, is fiscally irresponsible, erodes the tax base, requires more infrastructure and more expensive infrastructure with no way to fund it or pay for its upkeep, and limits people's freedom to choose how to travel. CFRG shows it's irresponsible, privileged, reactionary, ignorant nature yet again.

  5. ^^^^Cost a 2 mile train was quite irresponsible spending and costly. Isn't the City shooting its own self in the foot with this ordinance?

  6. This ordinance should not be permitted to move ahead without citizens knowing exactly what city planners are getting them in to.

Everything they do is basically a major screw up and affects most everyone in a negative manner fiscally and otherwise.

  7. This isn't just a plan. THEY ARE TRYING GO MAKE THIS A LAW!!!

    ReplyDelete
  8. This is a proposed LAW! Not just some pipe dream!

  9. Great, I live in Liberty and work in OP. I'd be happy to ride a bus that doesn't take me 3 hours to get to work or ride the toy train.

  10. I love the burbs!

  11. Just read the resolution and the 21 page attachment from that website. Which doc and which page does it show that auto use will be restricted?

  12. Save KC From Having Enough Citizens To Pay For It's Infrastructure!

Like us on Facebook and email your councilman and tell them to stop KC from having citizens! That's not what cities are for! City are for cars to drive in, AND NOTHING ELSE!!!!!!

  13. That's right! We need more starry eyed streetcar lemmings in the great New World ClASS KCMO order who will close their minds, keep them closed, smile, and follow orders!

Come visit downtown! Selfies, hotdogs and balloons for the kidults!!!!

  15. 9:29: That would be "its," trolley boy. Had you been paying attention in school, even in rural Kansas or some state very much like it, you might have learned how to write in such a way that your ignorance would not so obviously surpass your arrogance.

  16. Downtown needs a sewer tax. Let them fix the old and busted sewers.

  17. Don't drink the Kool-aid.

Kansas City is a car town and it will not change.

    ReplyDelete
  18. KCMO has tried to discourage people from using their cars by putting the 3 stoplights on felony freeway.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I don't understand why you all bitch about it kcs kc and will never change so all of you should MOVE OUT OF THIS DUMP

    ReplyDelete
  20. Will someone please explain why a streetcar that rides on fixed rail and has to deal with traffic lights and intersections is any better than a bus that can go 45 mph and faster? And a bus has no difficulty dealing with moving or parked cars, unlike the streetcar.

The streetcar is a complete waste of money. High speed rapid transit or light rail along highways would be an entirely better people mover.

    1. Why do you think a real world analysis is useful? We're talking starry eyed spending and cynical grift. The way of the future in old KC!

  21. 1:16, thank you for the opportunity. The streetcar is better than a bus because it puts lots more money in the pockets of all the rent seekers and power brokers. If they could make more money with camel caravans, we'd have those instead of the streetcar. You're welcome.

  22. It's free to ride Dan Coffeys Crazy Train!

  23. So let me get this straight. The new millenniums who are interested in health want to ride a train to the Plaza so they can go to the Gym and get healthy. We need to catch the guy that put that penny on the track and DERAILED the toot toot.
