TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! KANSAS CITY TOY TRAIN CONSUMER ALERT: DISAPPEARING DOWNTOWN STREETCAR MOBILE APP LOYALTY REWARDS SYSTEM FAILS TO FULFILL PRIZE PROMISES!!!

The ridership numbers of the Kansas City downtown toy train streetcar disappoint after the grand opening weekend breakdown debacle and now consumer complaints emerge FIRST ON TKC.

To wit . . .

CHECK TKC EXCLUSIVE BLOG COMMUNITY TESTIMONY FROM READERS COMPLAINING OF TOY TRAIN STREETCAR PRIZE DECEPTION OR AT LEAST SLOW MOVING CONTEST GIVEAWAY AWARDS!!!

After our blog community broke news of the toy train killing downtown biz, there was a quick and feeble attempt to offer incentives to biz hurt by poorly planned construction. Their solution: A contest and mobile app incentive program for businesses along the line . . .

Check the contest:Streetcar app to promote retailers on the line

Deets:

"Participating businesses, featuring a Downtown KC – Open for Business window stickers on their front doors, are located on or adjacent to the streetcar route, along Main Street from Pershing Road to the River Market.

“The App features a loyalty rewards system,” said a marketing director for the Downtown Council. “You earn points for checking in at retailers along the route. The points make you eligible to win a monthly prize, as well as a grand prize drawing.”

A Downtown law firm, has donated $5,000 to serve as the grand prize that will be awarded once the streetcar construction has been completed in about one year, Hurd explained. A minimum of 10,000 points over the next 12 months will be necessary to compete for the grand prize."

Now, here's the word from a KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTER yet to claim a prize . . .

"They have yet to hold any of the drawings. People went out working towards this goal and they never followed through!"

We searched for prize giveaway winners and so far there's nothing . . . In fact, most streetcar app links now simply points to advertising for the toy train. Search the Google play store and the Kansas City streetcar app is nowhere to be found. An search in the Apple app store revealed nothing but a couple of low rent podcasts.

And so our blog community asks . . .

WHERE'S THE GRAND PRIZE DRAWING OR THE STREETCAR APP TOUTED AFTER KANSAS CITY BIZ COMPLAINTS???

As of this FIRST AND EXCLUSIVE TKC writing, links noted in initial press release about the rewards program simply don't work. The app is either hidden and/or unavailable and yet another streetcar promise involving big money has yet to be fulfilled.

  1. So the streetcar can't keep their app up to date?

That's about as disappointing as the so-called "smart kiosks" that were hacked to play solitaire.

I thought we were a smart city?

  2. Give them time. I'm sure we'll get that grand prize after a streetcar extension.

  3. Trump will make the streetcars in Kansas City run on time! That's why I'm voting for him.

  4. Nice and this $108 Million piece of shit was supposed to be serious transportation huh?

  5. Hopefully this amusement park ride will attract the kids who fuck up the Plaza.

Mom can drop them off at Union Station where they board the train and fuck up downtown for change.

  6. So it's been running five days and you are wondering why the grand prize hasn't been given out yet.

Are you deranged, Tony? Just what is the matter with you? Do you realize how "stupid" this sounds, as opposed to "breaking and exclusive?"

  7. You got fucked. Period. Played. Suckered. Made a fool of. Yuck, yuck, dope, idiot your name.

  8. Speaking of broken promises, where is Bryan Stalder and the SMARTKC cabal's magical mystery bus plan that was supposed to fulfill all our wildest dreams, which they promised to release to voters after we voted down the east side expansion?

    ReplyDelete
  9. where's the app? How are you going to award prizes if the app to total the point doesn't even work?

Typical Sly James technology: All hat but no cattle.

    ReplyDelete
  10. That's a good question! If this contest is legit: Where is the app?

    ReplyDelete
  11. No app, no riders, no money and no new business. Thanks a lot Sly!

  13. TKC, you should remember this. The app was a glitchy piece of garbage. I'm sure that I sent you a review. They could not delete all the complaints in the app store or the Google play store so it was deleted. So far there hasn't been any mention of the rewards program for a year but no word on where that $5000 went. I don't suspect anything nefarious, I'm sure development and maintenance of the app cost more than than. All total, this is just the latest failure from Sly and the gang in a long line of embarrassments to come.

  14. Have they awarded any prizes at all?

I worked at a restaurant downtown and he app didn't even last 6 months. Quit after that so I didn't check up on it. The tips suck downtown. KC business people are needy cheapskates who want you to wipe their ass for them at the table. Good riddance.

    ReplyDelete
  15. So where's that app? Where's the $5000?

    ReplyDelete
  16. Pretty sure it was coded by a subhuman nigger and was therefore useless.

    ReplyDelete
  17. went down main street south of downtown just now...lots of people on the steeets, streetcar pretty full...

is this one of those alternate reality website?

    ReplyDelete
  18. That is good start. Now the trolley needs to go the same way as the app - disappear!!!

    ReplyDelete
  19. Maybe the 5k went to the same person who got the 15K that was supposed to get Floyd Mayweather to Kansas City.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Yes, the vast majority of residents who don't live downtown or even in KCMO are going to drive by hundreds of entertainment venues and thousands of retail stores on their way to be inconvenienced by screwing around with the streetcar and Downtown Council hype.
Sounds like a great business plan.
Let us know how it works out.
Also how the debt payments are going.
    All aboard!

I need it to paste on the side of the U-Haul cartoon I am working on.

  23. CK can't be trusted.

if this deal is legit, just point me to the app or a prize winner. Mayor's office watches this blog. What happened to the app or the prizes. when where the dates they were awarded? these are good questions that the streetcar supporters haven't answered.

they should be honest about this and their trouble with the app.

they should know the tip probably came from within their own ranks frustrated with how this project fell apart.

    ReplyDelete
  24. So, where did that app go?

    ReplyDelete
  25. Maybe Troy, Sherri, Ralph, and Jason should fly to Spain to research how to fix that app.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 8:02 - 5/11, yeah sure, while you're at it, apply big ol' pictures and signs:

KANSAS CITY HERE I COME! Dollar Houses! Crumbling Roads and Bridges! Dried Up Fountains! Unaccredited Public Schools! "Teen" Terror! Empty Two Mile Toy Train! AND MUCH MORE!

    ReplyDelete
  27. At the end of the day, who really gives a shit?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Just downloaded the CFRG auto-petition app and it's awesome! Automatically fills out a petition against ANYTHING, with no evaluation of the project's merit or the economic impact of cock-blocking it and connects you to 3,000 hucks who will sign anything you put in front of them, including a database of the 10% of voters who list "fear of any change" as their primary concern when voting. Unfortunately the app is not available in Johnson County or the Northland, because there's no reason to question suburban corporate welfare, aka, the "free market".

    SMERTCK!

  30. The $5,000 give away will not happen instead the 4 streetcars will be put up at he end of the year when the line closes

    ReplyDelete
  31. thanks for having a free speech zone. i respectfully dissent from the caviling about the streetcar. my assessment is that the in-place amenities downtown plus new hotels plus new apartments could actually succeed in creating an exciting urban space in our city, for which we'll all be better off. ambitious college grads from iowa, nebraska, and oklahoma could flock to kansas city as their version of the big apple, similar to atlanta in the south. kansas city could maintain and solidify it's role as a regional capital.
