TKC BREAKING AND EXCLUSIVE NEWS!!! FIRST KANSAS CITY STREETCAR REVIEWS REVEAL: TOY TRAIN FAR TOO SLOW AND PACKED WITH MEDIA AND PAID SHILLS!!!

The first reviews of the streetcar are in and our KICK-ASS TKC BLOG COMMUNITY isn't afraid to provide a bit of critical reporting and commentary while most Kansas City newsies are playing the part of cheeerleader amid their questionable "news" coverage.

To wit . . .

THE BIGGEST COMPLAINT ABOUT THE TOY TRAIN STREETCAR FROM KICK-ASS TKC TIPSTERS IS THAT IT'S INCREDIBLY SLOW!!!

Remember that this outdated mode of transit reached its zenith long, long ago before the digital age demanded that all the important people run around at nearly full speed whilst looking at their phones.

With 16 stops along the line, there is no doubt that this is a SLOOOOOOOW and leisurely bit of transit is targeted at middle-class denizens of downtown who don't have anywhere to be . . .

One AWESOME TKC TIPSTER sent us this note . . .

"I know, I'm a sucker for a party but it was funny to see that some of the more skilled joggers were easily passing the streetcar on its first day. In my journey along the line, it was clear that this streetcar is just for tourists and nobody else with business or an important date/appointment."

Another review . . .

"It's slow and way too bumpy. Obviously the job smoothing out local streets was haphazard and that's only going to get worse over time. In fact, during my route we all seemed in good spirits and cheered when the streetcar cleared a very significant bump. But I doubt people will be as happy when they spill their coffee all over themselves on a morning commute."

And then, it's important to note that half of today's crowd was nothing more than consultants and media people rushing to share the good news to all of the same dweebs on Facebook.

Accordingly, here's the BEST quote from our blog community:

"The comments from all the dumbsh*ts who think this is exciting are hysterical. I love the idiot who says, "First a world championship, now this! We're definitely in the big time!" What a moron . . . Like standing in a crowded rail car is such a privilege? That's something no one who uses mass transit regularly would ever say."

Still, this is Mayor Sly's day to shine and he seemed exceptionally happy to get to this point in his career . . .

Check a photo he shared taking the first ride on the toy train . . .

Like it or not, this is quite an accomplishment for Mayor Sly James that took a controversial special taxing district tactic which excluded voters across the city from this line, a FAILED extension effort and the defeat of two incumbent councilman who offered the strongest support of the streetcar.

Let's not also forget that more than $125 MILLION for a tiny transit route that's over-budget and continues to cost a great many people while only Mayor James earns the glory for this questionable achievement.

You decide . . .

  1. I can respect that you're trying to provide an alternative here but people really need to get away from their computers, get off their damn phones and see for themselves!

Visit the streetcar, check out what its trying to achieve and THEN make up your own mind. You can't argue with that TKC, can you?

  2. ^^^ Consultant.

  3. Of course it's slow, time worked differently back in at the turn of the 20th century and a man in WWI kansas city only had to check his pocket watch once a day in order to stay busy. LOL :)

  4. "And the streetcar is full of nothing but the media and paid shills".
    But I repeat myself!

  5. I like the streetcar. I'll be sure to visit every year I visit Downtown Kansas City!

  6. it's not that slow. usually takes me 17 mins to walk from union station to 12 & main. streetcar took 7.

  7. 7 minutes to go one mile is 8.6 MPH. Yes serious runners can do that all day.

  8. Pathetic. You should run a caption contest on the smug look on the mayors face.

Spending hundreds of millions of other's money. Good times.

Meanwhile REAL infrastructure projects get tabled.

This administration is a huge joke. Too pad everyone is going to be paying for this joke for years and years to come.

"Special Needs Train" in the house to drain your wealth.

  9. Sick of the Streetcar and all the Downtown hype and crap Lyin' Sly's media keeps cramming down everyone's throats.

  11. TOY TRAIN FAR TOO SLOW AND PACKED WITH MEDIA AND PAID SHILLS!!!

Streetcar is not the same as light rail. Yes! It is going to be slow and disruptive. Yes, only the cheerleaders and paid consultants will show up to celebrate this giant step back in time! If it was a needed part of transportation, the entire region would be celebrating. Instead what you have is folks on the payroll creating a parade-like atmosphere for attention. Everybody else today went to work today. Kansas City had a birthday party. Toot! Toot!

Somebody better hire Clay Chastain for real light rail options!

  12. Like most real people, I generally "run seriously" to and from lunch, to and from bars and shops and restaurants. I'm also a frequent Tony's Cranks and Kooks commentator, along with 8-10 other elite athletes who somehow find time to circle jerk each other's rage-bones non-stop all day long. I personally counted well over 40 streetcars leave Union Station carrying 150 paid mayoral staffers or consultants, while I stood in a non-stop line than was continuously refreshed for hours on end with new paid mayoral staffers and consultants. That's a huge staff. I had no idea there were over 7,500 paid mayoral staffers, but I will definitely not be voting to renew the tax 5 years from now knowing that fact, like approximately 20 percent of my neighbors.

Better title: Sly's folly trolly was a fail on opening day.

Btw, those two councilman davis and glover had other problems but their support of this stupidity was a big reason why they're out of city hall now.

Shows what you get for trusting sly james.

  14. That's nothing one the Matt Staubster's neighbors loft in that building has gone from $212,440 in 2012 to $158.995 in 2015.

They are lying out of their asses! Meanwhile anyone who doesn't live downtown keeps getting property tax hikes!

  18. I can't wait to go down tonight and hop on it at 1am.
I am planning on seeing real Kansas City class on board, at 1am on Saturday morning.
Hope the interior is made of plastic to make it easier to clean up the blood and vomit.

  19. Well the downtown hipsters finally got their personal bar hopper.

  20. No no no there was thousands of people camped out overnight so they could be the first to ride!

By 8:00 AM there were tourists from all over the world waiting for Sly's speech. Tens of thousands have been swarming downtown all day just to see it!

To say... I SAW IT!!!!! THE MODERN STREETCAR!!!!!

  21. LMAO yup they sure were.

  22. It was great until a nigger got on. The windows didn't open!!!

Buses are for niggers because buses can be hosed down and fumigated to kill the bugs niggers bring with them and the odor (aka "nigger skank") that flows from their every pore.

All humans are offended by the smell and appearance of other races. Nigger smell is offensive, because niggers are dangerous. It's instinct.

Dogs and horses stink too. But this smell doesn't bother most people because these are animals who improve our lives.

Poor hygeine is another matter. I never leave the house without first taking a shower. To me it's about respect. Smelling bad is disrespectful to myself, and to others. In my experience, niggers often have BO. Because they don't care how their behavior affects others. They see no shame in lying, stealing, or just being dirty.

  23. The people who are excited about a two mile streetcar that is slower than the Max bus which serves the same route are proving Kansas City really is a cowtown.

  26. I saw a photo of ass hole Troy Shitty riding the streetcar. Shit, that mother fucker is so fat I'm supprised he didn't bend the steel rails. The photo didn't show him below the waist so I didn't see if Pat Klein was there.

  33. I think all the citizens of KCMO are sick of City Hall wasting money trying to revitalize Downtown. How about spending some money to help the citizens? A good place to start would be to get rid of the stoplights on felony freeway.

    ReplyDelete
  34. ^^^ Agreed.

    ReplyDelete
  35. Keep in mind the names of all the politicians, consultants and developers who created this debacle. And stock up on tar and feathers - they will come in handy later on.
